Our bathroom light and fan do not work, gps sent us in the opposite direction, we are 10 miles from traverse city, the room is dingy even with the lights that do work. Book this only if you have no other options.
We have stayed here a couple of times in the past couple of years. Each time we have had good stays. This time was no exception. Our check in was fast and efficient. This time was different for us for this stay because we were traveling with our dog. This is a dog friendly hotel and has specific dog friendly rooms. Our room was clean, comfortable with wood floors with a microwave and refrigerator on the first floor. It smelled fresh and clean as well. We definitely will continue to stay at this hotel in Traverse City when we come into town because it is in a good location, clean, comfortable, affordable and the staff is always friendly and helpful.
Had reservation and when I tried to check in the manager jumped in her car and drove away leaving me stranded without access to the room I PAID FOR. I would not recommend - drive up the road to Knights Inn.
We paid 180.00 for this nasty room. Everything around area was booked or needed 2 nite minimum. We needed 1 nite. Beds super soft and rolled to middle. Sink and tub needed a good cleaning and/or replacement. Sticky handprint on window. Dirt in window track. Bed skirt appeared dirty. Our keys did not work so they gave us another room. People ahead of us had to be given another room as someone was staying in their room when they opened door.No card needed to enter building from side doors.
Easy check in The woman at the front desk was very pleasant Bed was clean and comfortable Quiet area The toilet bowl needs a good bleaching and the microwave had hand prints all over it. Not COVID standards clean. No coffee in the lobby no breakfast of any sort
reservations for Sept 3 - 5. We 'checked out' after 1 night. musty smell through hallway and room. Dark and dingy room. reserved for 2 Queen beds. they were 2 Full size beds! 'wood' flooring not carpet. could feel dirt and grime on feet. after shower, the bottom of my feet were black. pool was open/unlocked when we checked in about 4pm. when our son and I went down about 7pm it was locked. front desk said manager said to close it. no idea why. this was one of the main reasons for choosing this hotel. That night I decided we were not staying the second night. just felt dirty and I wasnt paying 199 to stay in a dirty hotel room. Made reservation at Comfort Inn located downtown Traverse City for just $88 more. When I went to desk in the morning to check out no one was there. a lady came who I think worked in housekeeping. Told her I wanted to check out. she wrote down the room number and my name. I asked about the refund for 2nd night. she said she wasnt authorized to give refunds, there was no one working the front desk this morning, and that the manager was the only one to give refunds and she's not in until 2pm. yet check out is 11am. I have since found out they only have ONE front desk person. obviously she can't work 24/7 . I left a note with our contact info, including phone number so manager could call with questions this is 9/9 and I still have not heard from her. As we took the last of our stuff to the car, another guest was saying she was leaving too. looked at me and said, be careful and watch out. she had found a LIVE bed bug in her shower that morning. We hadn't seen anything but at lunch, our son complained about his elbow. when I looked at it, he had bite marks all up and down both arms. later found a few on his back. They were not mosquito bites. Only he was bit. He slept in a bed by himself. My husband and I are okay. thankfully nothing in our bags as we have been looking. I have lodged a complaint with AAA (made reservation with) and with Choice Hotels, neither of which can give me a refund. I have to talk to the manager of this location. waiting on a call now. not holding my breath, but I am out $199+tax. crappy way to run a business. If you're that short staffed then don't bother opening. You have to have front desk staff to check guests out properly.…
When I checked in, I was shocked to find that my room not cleaned after the previous person's stay. The sheets were wrinkled and the bathroom had used towels. The sheets were replaced after I complained (I saw other people waiting in the lobby for the room to be cleaned. Can't believe this is happening during the pandemic!) but the condition of the room was pathetic. It had a very bad odor and we felt like throwing up. I also started having irritation in my throat (I have mold allergy) which cleared as soon as I left the room. The beds were saggy and unfit to sleep in. I freaked out when I checked online reviews for this hotel and saw people had reported bed bugs. I've never seen a hotel in the US that's in such a bad condition and it's a shocker that it's listed as a 2-star hotel (Its much worse that 1-star motels). The room was very different from the one shown in these pictures. Stay way from this place! …
We booked through hotels.com several weeks in advance of our trip. This was no bargain hotel, pricewise. One of the pricier accommodations of our trip, actually. First red flag was they couldn't find our reserveration even though I showed her the confirmation email on my phone. She waved her hand and more or less blamed "these third party booking services..." I guess it happens, okay. So while she checked, we started calling around... unfortunately there was no other room available in Traverse City on that short notice. Finally she found our reservation (yay), at least we didn't have to sleep on the side of the road. But the beds in our room (NOT queens as advertised) were not much better. Both beds had sunken, lumpy mattresses with horribly squeeky springs. We also discovered that there was no soap in our room. A quick trip down to the lobby, only to find out there was no soap in the entire facility. She promised it was just because their shipment was just late and would be there by 8pm and offered us hand sanitizer. We left for dinner and stopped back in the lobby around 9pm. No soap, So strange. Oh well, shampoo for body wash it is, maybe tomorrow. The continental breakfast in the morning was empty, she quickly tossed some bananas and individually wrapped muffins in the basket when we got there. Juice machine was 'out of order'. Okay, no problem we went out for breakfast instead. We expected when we returned for our 2nd night that there would be saap now at least, restocked coffee packets in the room, and perhaps fresh towels. None of the above. After a long day of sightseeing and hiking we were all looking forward to relaxing at the pool and hot tub. Erm, nope. The pool door was locked with a paper sign that said "Closed" and we could see that the hot tub was green/brown. A second night with the screeeky springs waking us, and rolling together into each other in the sunken center of the bed.. we decided to sleep in separate -- yet still just as squeeky -- beds. The AC was sooo loud and turned on and off on it's own. My husband tried everything to change the settings with no luck. The screens on the windows are pushed out like someone had tried to escape. Dead flies in the bathtub. Very old and dated plumbing fixtures -- my husband said it sounded like "mating cats" when he diverted the water from the tub faucet to the shower head. Loose toilet seat. The stairway railing was apparently broken in half at some point because it was duck-taped together about halfway down. Heavily stained/spilled-on hallway carpet. It became a running joke between the couples traveling together in our group. If it weren't for the pricey bill we would have probably simply laughed it off as "an experience". However when we asked to speak to the manager at check-out to see what she could do for us as far as the bill, she refused to answer her phone or texts, or even come out of the back room. The girls at the desk were very sweet, but their hands were tied. We knew the manager was there because we saw her go into the back room. But she locked the door and did not respond to their knocking or calls to her cell phone. That speaks volumes. There were other guests in the lobby as well that said they weren't leaving until the spoke to the manager. No one was loud, irate or upset. Not at all. Very reasonable, calm people. We waited too for awhile for her to come out and address us, but in the end we had a vacation to continue and were wasting valuable daylight. This expensive 2-night stay was definitely an eye opener and we'll be reading reviews much more closely from now on. We stayed the next night at another Choice Hotel property, a Quality Inn, and that place was OUTSTANDING. 5- Star. We will definitely stay there again, but will probably never choose another Econo Lodge again based on this place. Just baaaad. Don't do it.…
This hotel needs a lot up repairs and up dating. There are too many things to list. Way over priced for the room we had. Although in poor condition there is no excuse for not being clean. I would not recommend this location. I will not stay there in the future.
Terrible. Although our room was clean the beds were horrendous. You could actually feel the springs, lumpiness, w/e. No sleep. And the rest of the building is dirty and run down. You get what you pay for. Trust me spend the extra $'s and stay somewhere else.
