The Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City was a very nice stay for us. The lodge is busy with families and lots of children which is great for little ones. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well appointed. The staff was friendly and professional. You close to downtown Traverse City and the bay. We spent two days at Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes National Lakeshore.
Firstly, We have stayed here several times through the years. This hotel has not skipped a beat in hospitality. Everything was excellent and as we always hope for while staying at a hotel. Room was clean. Room smells clean. Not lacking in any amenities. The new wristband for waterpark now include rfid chip for guest rooms and inner resort charges (bar, restaurants etc…) Very nice touch Thank you Great Wolf Lodge for a wonderful weekend.
The room: We stayed in a double queen bed room. No frills as we expected. However, the room had an odor to it, the carpet was dirty and the couches had a crusty stain on them. The housekeeping staff exchanged it for a new one. Lastly, the walls had brown stains on them... probably from years of dirty hands touching. We did not bring the black light... but prob should have as there's a sign stating that they will not clean during g the stay "for safety"...Gross! The floors: There is little to no cleaning anywhere.. from stains to whiffs of vomit and urine, it was very dirty. I stayed 3 days and not once did I see anyone vacuum or scrub the floors. The food: Not good. Club critters has typical substandard dive bar food... but that gets old. Hungry as a wolf pizza served up some reheated slices of stale pizza. We bought the breakfast package which includes non alcoholic beveragesand tip. The holiday in express had warmer fresh-er food served up. St the end the waitresses asked if she could bill our room for a tip... wtaf???! The water park: was actually fun.... but not worth staying in this place. My suggestion, buy a day pass and stay elsewhere in traverse city. …
We've been coming here for years and will never get tired of it. The staff here is wonderful and inviting. My kids love doing the MagiQuest game and the workers in the MagiQuest store are phenomenal. Special shout-out to Jackson and August. You can tell they love their job and love helping the kids (and parents) get the best experience out of their Magi adventures.
Spent four days/nights at Great Wolf Lodge Traverse City in conjunction with granddaughter’s fourth birthday. She had a great time, and as one of the adults (age 67!) so did I. We’ve also stayed at GWL Wisconsin Dells, Nov 2021, for comparison. I simply cannot complain in any way about our stay. Our room, Wolf Den with separate bunk beds for the Grand, was really nice. Clean, comfortable, very well maintained. Front desk and housekeeping staff all very courteous and responsive. Water park was superb, and the lifeguard/safety staff was top drawer. Dunkin’ Donuts on site was huge!! Simply the best! Food concessions were very good. Surrounding area also very convenient for other services, Meijer, Walgreens, fast food, etc. It must be a good place if grumpy old me had fun!!
As you walk in there are greeters to meet you and give you your ears. Our greeter was Frank who gets A++ from us. We saw him through out our visit and knew our names. Or if only one was around he would ask where the other was. Plus he took some pictures of us when we came in. I heard the person next to us asking aboutadinnerplan but it wasn’t offered to us until I said something about it. Then at the end we were told we had money left and it wouldn’t be returned to us not knowing they didn’t have our morning purchase yet. So we went and bought stuff I wouldn’t have bought in the first place but wasn’t leaving money unspent. We got two comfortable queen beds. The sink was outside the bathroom area but it was also low. Maybe because the place is for kids. The far side of the beds had a half wall and then living room on the other side with table and two chairs. Our room had a balcony with a view of outdoor pool. We ate at the grill twice and they give you enough food just a little pricey. We also did the sweet shoo but not much sweet more ice cream then anything. It’s nice they had a dunkin donuts here and you could use the food plan there. …
The herd no longer resides near the Lodge, but still a great place. I would have loved to see the buffalo from the hotel, but apparently people complained? We've been 4 times and it never gets old! Plan ahead and get 40-60% off the room, we got ours for $79 a night.
Booked online paid 150 down and 300 due at check in Checked in and was charged full amount Then only got 122 of my 150 returned. Stingy w/ towels and toiletries. Left day early, still charged for day.
The main issue was the lost and found system. Obviously it’s my own fault that I left something behind. Left my toiletry bag hanging on the back of the bathroom door. I realized it within an hour and called. Was told to fill out a lost item form on their website. Thought it would be easy to recover since I realized almost right away and knew exactly where I left it. A month later, they officially informed me it cannot be located (pretty sure it was an auto generated email) and calling back never helped. It wasn’t valuable to anyone but me—my glasses, contacts and retainers were in there. And I tipped housekeeping generously so there would have been no reason to toss it out of spite or something. Clearly no one ever looked for it and it will cost me around 1k to replace these items. Second problem was the breakfast buffet. We paid in advance for our family when we made the reservation. came down for breakfast around 8:15-8:30 and was told it would be a 45 minute wait which would leave me with a VERY hangry toddler. I understand there have to be enough staff to serve the empty tables but waiting that long for a buffet just never crossed my mind.…
Went for a family trip before Spring Break chaos. Room rates doubled or tripled from the Tuesday night we stayed to the next night. Water park was fantastic. Snowing outside and 85 degrees inside. Park was clean and wait times on the slides weren’t bad. THE LIFEGUARDS WERE AMAZING! Wednesday the park was very busy and our boys (7 & 10) were ready to go after a few more hours. Loved the adult hot tub. Way too many little kids in the other one. Went through the arcade. Very nice with a lot of cool games that you won’t find. Just watch that prices of the games go up after a certain time at night. Very tricky… Didn’t eat in this trip, but we have had the pizza in the past and it is very good. TC has lots of great places close by, including a new Chik-fil-a! Meijer right down the street too in case you forget something or want to stock up on snacks. Had a Kid Camp Suite on the first floor. Nice to have a separate place for the kids but the queen bed was too small for two adults. Bathroom was tiny too and the sink was separate from the toilet/shower. Our screen door for the slider leading outside was off the hinges, but it was too cold to use anyway. Overall great place if you catch it at the right price and before too many people have the same idea!…
