Scheduled this for fun for my 5 year old grandson. We all loved it. The ship had all ages from little ones to seniors. Ice cream cruise, non-alcoholic beverages and adult drinks too. Amazing crew. Very knowledgeable about sailing and this ship in particular. You can help with some sailing duties or just sit back and enjoy the experience. They...

This was a great experience and I am glad we did it. The boat is wonderful! The price is very good too for dinner, overnight stay and breakfast in the morning. They serve wraps and have an excellent bar (Mawby and local beer) for dinner - and everyone fits in the galley for a good hearty breakast. It included the...

This was such a unique trip. My boyfriend and I stayed overnight and did the sunset cruise. You really have to do both. The staff was so nice and accommodating. They all have such great histories and are truly wonderful people. The beds are bunks below deck, but you do have your own area. They allow swimming off the boat...

Well we found it! Our very special day was enhanced with the Bed and Breakfast. The weather was beautiful and the experience left nothing more to be desired. The crew was a wonderful bunch of hard working young adults that treated everyone on board with the utmost respect and courtesy. The accommodations were better than expected for an 1800 replica...

We spent two nights on the boat. The rooms are simple and small. However, it was a lot of fun. The crew is wonderful. I really cannot say enough good things about them. Everyone we dealt with was friendly, kind and welcoming. Every member of the crew took the time to introduce themselves to us and make sure we were...

I had been encouraged to take this cruise by friends who had taken the astronomy cruise a few years earlier. It was everything that I expected. Even though the accomodations were spartan (as advertised), the crew was very friendly and made me feel at home. They were all polished professionals when it came to handling the boat. The wine-tasting each...

We spent the night on the boat. The accomodations are spartan, just as described. We slept on deck and it was beautiful. Waking up before sunrise to see swans swimming by and then seeing a fishing boat go out just as the sun rose was a picture perfect experience. Some crew spent the night and more came onboard to prepare...

We enjoyed the evening wine tasting cruise and overnight B&B option on the schooner. B&B guests are taaken on board before the rest fo the cruise passenger to get settled and comfortable. There was a large group of maybe 45 for the wine tasting/dinner cruise which lasted 2 hours. Those who wanted could get involved hoisting the sails, but after...

We just returned from a great time on the Schooner Manitou. Our four-day trip was designated an “astronomy cruise.” We looked at planets, stars, constellations and the moon, and also learned about other facets of our universe—all led by an astronomer from a Michigan college. We sailed all four days, with one day having absolutely perfect sailing conditions. We enjoyed...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Fresh air and starry nights abound from the decks of one of the largest traditional sailing vessels on the Great Lakes. You’ll experience one of the best vantage points on West Grand Traverse Bay. Join us on board for an adventurous overnight secured at our pier and a hearty homemade full breakfast cooked on our wood burning stove in the morning. There are accommodations for 24 guests in 12 private cabins below deck which are rustic and fitting of a mid-1800’s style windjammer. Each is equipped with two built-in, wooden, single bunks and electric lighting. The cabins are bright, clean, comfortable and supplied with fresh linens, towels and warm blankets. There’s plenty of room for a good night’s sleep or, if you’d rather (and the weather’s appropriate) you may bring a sleeping bag and a pad for sleeping on deck under the stars. There are two enclosed toilet facilities on deck that are kept sparkling clean. Access to shower facilities on shore is available for further passenger comfort. Mornings are a special time, with spectacular sunrises climbing over Old Mission Peninsula. Wake up to a fresh mug of coffee topside while the preparation of breakfast is in its final stages…This is one to remember. ... more   less

“All the rooms are the same I believe - they assign you them as you board the ship.”

“Rooms are assigned, but if you can request one of the forward cabins, I think 1-4, they have a less rectangular shape and a slight bit more room. If it doesn't predict rain, bring a sleeping bag and spend the night on deck.”
