We spent a week camping at site 421. It was pretty epic. .8 miles to a secluded beach on Lake Michigan. I'm a trail runner and had immediate access to miles and miles of soft surface trail. Recommend the Bass Lake loop. Bathrooms and showers were clean. Site was large. Neighbors were friendly. We spent a day on the beach...

I have a 28' Travel Trailer. This is flat out the nicest, best maintained trailer camping ground I've ever stayed out, bar none. The sites are huge, have perfectly flat freshly paved sites, then each site has a short path to a perfectly maintained picnic table and firepit area. This is a national park also. Since most of the activities...

I personally prefer the tent over the RV while camping so I love to camp on the tent-only area. Platte River campground offers the private group tent area which is perfect for a group of 7-25. It's perfect for a group of friends to go hang out. The toilet and showers are nice and clean too even though one have...

After hearing such great recommendations about this campground we were very excited to see what all of the fuss was about. After spending a weekend there I'm not sure we will return. The "Camp Host" Dan Connors was an ABSOLUTE JERK! He barged onto our campsite at 7AM to YELL at us that our vehicle was 3 inches onto the...

This was our first experience camping with a trailer and this campground was perfect. There are pull through spots available, but the park wasn't busy so we took this opportunity to learn how to back up the trailer. Platt River Campground has the cleanest park bathrooms I've seen, however, I've never seen so many people feel the need to DRIVE...

This place was full. We booked 3 months out and I struggled to a site for 2 nights. I had to book to separate sites to cover both nights. On arrival the ranger saw I had to different sites book and helped rearrange my bookings so I didn't have to move. Very helpful. The sites very nice and tucked away...

We've camped here three years now . . . usually in September so we miss the crowds. We're tent campers in the walk-in loop. These sites are perfect, as you have all of the convenience of car camping but still feel like you're getting away from it all. The facilities here are the nicest I've ever encountered while camping. The...

We chose this location the week of August 18th because of it's proximity to the Sleeping Bear Dunes. We were not only in a perfect location right on Lake Michigan, but in the heart of all there is to do in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Forest. Being able to walk to the Platte River to Tub/Canoe/Kayak/Fish or Lake Michigan to...

I really enjoyed this campground. I will admit this was my first time camping (in a 24' trailer) but still. I'm alittle too old for air mattress/tent on the ground sorry. When I was younger only camping I ever did was a tent in my backyard. So this was a whole new experience and I didn't mind it. The spaces...

My girlfriend and I did an overnight in the secluded tent site before doing the the dune climb. Campgrounds were great with the exception of the staff's attitudes. A nearby couple said there is an unhealthy climate in the uniformed park rangers acting rude, above the law, and fining/charging for as much as possible. I was a bit put off...
