The old adage "don't judge a book by its cover" applies here but not how you think. This B&B is gorgeous. Set in stunning old buildings and grounds with a lovely pool and restaurant but the staff's manners are less attractive. It really does ruin the experience no matter how beautiful the outward appearance.

This small hotel was a perfect little gem, everything I'd hope for. The service is very personal. Our little room was quiet, bright, clean and pretty. Quite comfortable. We felt a genuine sense of welcoming and hospitality from our hosts. We loved the history, the garden, the two resident dogs. It's in a great location. There was no wifi in...

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights a couple of weeks ago after travelling in the region and virtually stumbling upon this beautiful place quite by chance. It is in a small side street and as you enter the white wooden door you are suddenly in another world (one you don't want to leave)! There are stunning gardens with...

This boutique hotel is luxurious. It's in a converted catholic Girls' school. The service from the proprietors is friendly, efficient and very understated. Rooms have individual character and some have a private terrace. The restaurant offers classic French food (as veggies, we weren't interested) and you need to book several days ahead. It's just a two minute walk from the...

Stayed here overnight before setting off on our family vacation cycling and canoeing along the Dordogne! Fabulous garden in which one might sit for days on end writing or composing. We had a wonderful continental breakfast before we set off on our journey. Definitely noted as one to revisit!

Booked as part of a Headwater activity holiday. Beautiful setting, friendly staff & gorgeous rooms. One of the best meals I have ever had in my whole life! We sat on the terrace, listening to the bubbling of the pond. The view across the grounds is stunning. Breakfast this morning was delicious too - fresh croissants, fresh fruit & yoghurt...

We paid a little more for a suite which was worth every penny...the other rooms were all individual and very special too. A beautiful hotel, very elegant and classy but friendly and welcoming too. Relaxing in the lovely hotel gardens in the wonderful town of Martel with an aperitif before dinner, it felt like being in another world. I wish...

Let me start by saying I find eating in France rarely offers me a good experience - mainly down to the fact I dont much care for fois gras, copious amounts of duck or raw meat. Relais St Anne was a revelation! The beautiful location of fhis hotel restaurant is just so perfect, it really is like something from a...

We stayed here with our dog en route to Southern Spain. We received a very warm welcome. Our room was lovely. It was on the ground floor and had doors out to a gorgeous courtyard for ease with our dog. The room was chilly but when we asked for the heating to be turned up, the owners did this for...

Step through the gate into the courtyard of this former convent and you will be charmed We eat here several times a year. The food is excellent value, served in the winter months in the dining room with log fire or on the terrace overlooking the beautifully kept garden during the summer
