L'Auberge du Cedre was a lucky find - a beautiful house, lovely rooms and food, and a very calm atmosphere in a superb location with easy access from Montpellier Airport (with first-class instructions!) surrounded by lovely scenery, and within easy reach of lovely towns such as Anduze.

Arriving after an exhausting bike trip(55 km) in the heat, this was exactly what we needed. We got at nice and quiet room, and after some rest we used the swimming pool. The food is very good; we had breakfast, lunch and dinner during the two days stay, and the food was always good. The WIFI worked well, The staff...

It’s hard to define the Auberge du Cèdre, it’s neither a hotel nor a guest house, but rather a large, old family home with many living rooms and bedrooms, a maze of stairs and refreshing corridors, vast sun-drenched terraces and lovely hundred-year-old gardens that meander at various levels. It was formerly the manor house of the Domaine de Cazeneuve, a...

This was to be a do nothing break. However we did go for wonderful but easy walks in the area and drove to the surrounding towns including a fascinating glass museum in Claret. We had two rooms here. The first had the bathroom in the hall and we shared the W.C. Not a real problem and very French. It made...

Thank you very much for the in-depth and very balanced review. I think you captured well the essence of our place. Concerning the food, we regret very much that there was a series of sub-standard dishes caused by clear errors in the kitchen (for example the steak one evening). This is not the normal level, and we are working with...

We booked two adjoining rooms in this auberge at short notice as our travel dates stretched due to an impending strike. Very nice auberge, rooms a little basic. We were there with four children under 9 and the staff couldn't have been friendlier and we're delighted that our kids were happy to eat the same meals but would have prepared...

A relaxing week spent at the Auberge allowed us to emerge ourselves in the local area and culture. Lots of interesting places to visit and explore, giving you a feeling of total removal from a busy work schedule. The welcome and attention from staff provided us with confidence that we were there to have a hassle free experience. If you...

We have stayed at the Auberge de Cedre a number of times over the years and most recently, we were delighted to see how the restaurant has become much more upscale. We like staying at the Auberge because of the lovely atmosphere, warm welcome and nice accommodation and now the fantastic restaurant is another big plus. Interesting regional menu with...

We have stayed and dined at the Auberge since the mid-90s, although we hadn't been back for a few years. There is something for everyone here; from a good sized pool to a hidden camp site, from the spacious Garden room apartment through to simple rooms with shared bathrooms. The grounds and views are outstanding, as are the local walks...

I have been a regular visitor of the Auberge since the beginning of the 90-ies. It has always been and still is a place to get away from the western daily rush. The Auberge has modernised but only so far as to make it more comfortable, with Wifi and some rooms with bathrooms. The food is always very good, but...

We recently stayed in the Lauret area and had two superb dinners at this Auberge. The imagination, quality and presentation of the food was outstanding and despite choosing a fixed menu on both occasions the variety was excellent, permitting courses drawn from across the full carte. The fish papillotte was memorable as was the basil sorbet served with fresh tomato....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
It's hard to define the Auberge du Cedre, it's neither a hotel nor a guest house, but rather a large, old family home with its many living rooms and bedrooms, its maze of stairs and refreshing corridors, its vast sun-drenched terraces and its lovely hundred-year-old gardens. At the restaurant, at week-ends, our chef, Vera, offers colourful, Mediterranean food that changes with the seasons, based on olive oil, delicately spiced and all home-made; there is a vegetarian menu, and more and more organic produce, too. There are three set menus, one of which changes each weekend, and a reasonably priced a la carte menu. The restaurant offering this menu is open every weekend on Friday evening, Saturday for lunch & dinner and on Sundays for lunch. On weekday lunchtimes, Monday to Friday, there is a choice of five tasty platters and home-made desserts for a quick, light meal. In the evening on weekdays, the restaurant is reserved for Auberge guests, with a daily home made three-course set menu (by reservation). A vegetarian menu is possible on prior notice. However you can enjoy our full wine list at any time. ... more   less
