Hostellerie de la Maronne is a destination hotel. It is beautiful inside and out. Our rooms were clean, decorated beautifully and ours had its own terrace. The pool is wonderful. The gardens on the grounds are lovely and the view of the area is also lovely. We enjoyed the living room area on the main floor, which is set up...

With a gentle river flowing nearby, cutting through verdant green pastures where herds of contented moo-cows graze on the ample grass. Its as idyllic as it gets... a panoramic valley that's breathtaking, framed by volcanic mountains in the distance is a greeting that we cannot resist. We were offered a room with a balcony that faced out onto the splendid...

We were staying in another hotel ,nearby, which served excellent food, varied menu, reasonably priced but having read the reviews about this hotel, we decided to take one night out of our 3 nights in the area and try this hotel restaurant. When we called to reserve a table we were told the restaurant was closed on Wednesday, so we...

Great stay in a very peaceful location, with cowbells for soundtrack. Food was good quality and we enjoyed it, but it was the same narrow choice as mentioned elsewhere. Luckily we liked it so it was fine for the 3 nights we were there. Would not put us off going for 2 or 3 nights, but then one would have...

What a great place, beautiful old house with lovely gardens and pool. our room was a bit mismatch of furniture and a bit tired - but a great view over to the hills at the front of the hotel. There are some lovely lounge rooms downstairs to relax before or after dinner. The food was not the best I've had...

We stayed one night. We were not sure we would like based on the comments on TripAdvisor. But we did. Property is magnificent, recently renovated, great restaurant, beautiful ground, clean room/bathroom. Nice owner. We loved our time there. I would certainly recommend it to anyone looking to spend some quite time in a beautiful part of Auvergne.

The location is first-class (once you've got there), very little traffic on the road below the hotel, so very quiet. Many walks around the hotel and in the area of the parc des volcans. But equally for the lazy there are extensive, quiet grounds to sit in, read, relax. The evening meal in the restaurant is a high spot of...

We expected a Bar with accommodation, what a surprise! set in a Valley which most of the rooms overlook. This is a HOTEL of about the turn of the century and was modernised in 1990s to a VERY high standard. Rooms are all with sound proofing wall paper, good sized beds clean with all facilities. The restaurant is below sight...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A superb valley where the matonne flows peacefully. A Country house sitting on a hillside You have arrived in Le Theil. Set in the middle of the country side, empty save for a few scattered barns or burons, it is well worth the detour. Rare are the places where the milky way provides such a nocturnal show as here. Where the eye is lost in a profusion of greens amongst the rolling landscape. A large park with pretty walks awaits you. ... more   less

“If you are staying more than a few nights, we recommend the "suite soleil levant" for its views. We also recommend the half-board if you are there more than a few nights -- it's a good menu, and you don't have to worry about driving around to find a restaurant in another village.”
