Detailed Reviews
We had one of the field spots near the lake (would have love a beach front spot) - area sites were easy to park, clean, fire-it area had view of lake and sunset. Kayakers in our group were able to launch from the beach - very convenient. We were there three nights, each had a spectacular sunset. We hope to return again next season.

Stayed here 2 nights. We were at the South end of the campground right across from us was Lake Superior and the views were incredible. Unfortunately on the other side of us was the highway. There was quite a lot of road noise until very late at night. And apparently the campground didn't think to schedule the dumpster pick up during the day because the truck came at 5:30 AM . Quite the wake up call. If you were at the North end of the campground with a spot right on the lake this would be a quite different experience. The bathhouse on the North end was a 100% better than the bathhouse on the south end. The south end bathhouse was in a low-lying area and had blower fans running the entire 2 days we were there to dry it out somewhat unsuccessfully. However they did have plenty of hot water so that was a plus. This is one of those campgrounds that your spot ould make an incredible difference in your experience. While we planned on returning to the area we would definitely look for a different campsite.

Right on the lakeshore! We booked late, so we had 3 campsites in 4 nights. Amazing view. Helpful office staff when we needed it. Recommend NOT using your awning as we had wind come up in less than 10 seconds that ripped/ broke the metal bracket right off. Take a walk on the beach. Watch a sunset. Kayak or paddle board right from your sight.

Room Tip: Book early. Don’t use an awning as it can get very windy!

We stayed in a site with water and electric. Dump site was easily accessed. Showers and bathrooms were nice. Close access to lake. Very nice and clean beach and water. Mostly thank you to this campground for allowing dogs on the beach. What a treat to have that. Camping sites are generous in size and many are right on the beach. I do suggest you use a water pressure regulator as water pressure is strong and did cause a leak under our kitchen sink. Only negative was no shade at all and no laundry facility at campground. There is a decent laundromat in town of Munising. Enjoyed the Ultimate Kayaking tour of Pictured rocks.

We were looking at various federal and state campgrounds and our gps redirected us to logging roads. After 2 hours, we called it quits and went down the road to this place. Holy crap!!! The place is great. $46 for power and water on the lake. Sites are level, WiFi is fast and showers are hot and you don’t have to keep pushing a button.
Just go there!!

We weren't sure how long we were going to stay, so we booked one night, then increased our nights, but couldn't get them near each other. Before arrival, the desk called to confirm our reservation and I told them we were at three different sites. They let us know that they just had a cancelation for full hook up on the beach. It was so amazing! We came in on Friday evening, saw Kitchi iti kipi (sp?) on our way up (worth the 20 min stop!). We did the 21 mile loop on Grand Island biking on Saturday, saw Mosquito falls (wouldn't recommend) and the Log Dunne (amazing) and then Sunset cruise at pictured rocks (highly recommend) on Sunday eve. We left for Tahquamanon (sp?) falls (highly recommend) on Monday with a stop at Oswald Bear Park (recommend). We were right across the camp road from the bathrooms and sat on the beach for swimming each night. Kids were in love (16, 13, 11 yrs old). Thanks!

This is hands down my most favorite place to camp. The staff is full of genuinely kind people who are a delight to interact with. The sites are roomy with clean restroom facilities. The views are gorgeous. I can’t say enough about how much I love this place.

The office staff was very nice. Highly recommend the sites along the lake. I'm not a fan of the type of sites in the middle. Restroom and shower areas very clean. Could not connect to the free wi-fi, too many users.

Really enjoyed camping on the beach of Lake Superior. The views were beautiful and the campsite was peaceful. We decided to stay here at the last minute and were not disappointed. Easy access to the beach right from the campground.

There are two types of tent sites. Rustic sites are located right on the beach and are walk in only by way of a trail. The regular tent sites are drive up, with some located within a few feet of the beach/waterfront and others located on the loop drive amongst the RV sites. The sites easily accommodate 2 tents and are spaced close together in my opinion. Restroom and facility access is a short walk from both types of sites but i’d suggest bringing a homemade toilet in a pinch. Simply a 5 gal bucket with garbage bags and kitty litter and a pool noodle around the top.
No bears to worry about. More privacy on the rustic sites. Easier facility access on the loop drive.
i’ve camped both types of tent sites and i prefer the drive up sites since i didn’t enjoy lugging my camping gear to the rustic site. it’s a personal choice.
yes, they do sell firewood. $7 a cube i think. i always buy there to support the park.
Yes, a beach runs along all the lakefront sites. Not only could you do it, it would be very easy.
We didn't have any issues. From people stealing our food, to animals :) We brought two large coolers and set them near the trail to our campsites and just kept getting ice from the camp store to restock them.
You are very observant and thorough, very wise to ask these questions! The map is not accurate or to scale. The sites are not two deep they are all along the beach. There is a dirt path going out to these sites. It's a good 1/8 mile at least to the last site, and it gets very muddy when it rains. There are wagons and wheel barrels to pull or push your items out to the site. J and K are in the main campground and there's a little wet and beach grass area between K and L. It is beautiful and seclusive at these sites, but the biggest warning is that there is POISON IVY in every site expect 3 or 4 sites. We were in site O and that was poison ivy free last July. I think it was sites T and V that were also spared, but I can't remember exactly. I don't know how fast it will have grown and if it has spread into those campsites this coming summer. We stayed three days and I personally was horrified to see people come each day and set up in the poison ivy and not know it. We told people as we could, some chose to stay, others left. I don't understand why they are not dealing with this problem. I am very allergic to poison ivy, so I would have been furious if I had gotten it while camping there.
