The pictured rocks attracts lot of travelers to this part of UP and the hotels seem to get very pricey over weekends in summers. While I was going through lodging options on PureMichigan/ Munising website , I called up many hotels/motels and finally ran into HillCrest. Going by the positive reviews on TA , I went ahead and booked this place.

It was worth every penny. This is a low cost mom n Pop motel on M 28 about 2 miles away from Munising downtown. There are 10+rooms and run by a family. They check in was smooth. The room we got was cleaned well , appeared and smelt good. The interiors are dated and some stains on carpet , but I have no reason to complain.

For food , you can choose delivery from a nearby option or drive down.

If you can keep expectations at check and shell out just over 50-60$ per night for 2 double beds , you could consider this.

This place is very good for the price and location. The room was clean and adequate. Nothing fancy here. Perfect for what we needed. No problems. There is a refrigerator to keep your beer cold and a microwave to warm your pasty. Have fun ! Beautiful area.

Mom and pop motel room was clean with a comfortable bed and hot shower. Decent size room included a small fridge and microwave. Check in was friendly and convenient. Located just a few miles from the small town of Munising, which was home to several mom and pop restaurants, grocery and hardware stores, gas, and a nice Pictured Rock boat cruise. Mini golf and ice cream practically next door. Lots of waterfalls close by. Room, with a king sized bed, was $60/night, including taxes and fees. No pool/ hot tub, just a home base to take in the UP sights, and a bed and shower each night. If you have a larger group, there are also 4 cabins on the grounds. Can't speak to how many they sleep or price, but look nice from the outside. Only 15-20 motel rooms total, so plan accordingly to reserve in advance. Community gas grill and fire pit also on the grounds.

To be fair, I read the reviews before staying and thought I would take the chance since smell and outdated furniture doesn't mean much to me. We stayed for 3 nights and it wasn't good; carpet very dirty, chairs were dirty, pillows smelled like body order, wall paper peeling off walls, used tissue and someone's shoes found under our bed. The front door had to be slammed in order to close and there still was a good size gap. We were in room #8.

I can't speak in regards to the cabins but I can tell you the room we stayed in was not like the reviews I read online. Yes, I agree $50.00 a night for a room is cheap but your getting what you paid for. When reviewing their website I didn't see anything that stated it was a pet friendly motel. For our one night stay we had the pleasure of a dog in the next room that would bark anytime it heard a noise. I was not impressed with the cleanliness of the room and the big stain on the side of the mattress. The pictures on the website didn't match the description of the room that we stayed in. If you should choose to stay at this motel I would not suggest staying in room #8.

True that the woman at the desk was friendly and helpful, the price for a motel room was $50 and the room looked clean, but, we just couldn't get past the tear in the curtain and the beat up outer door or the general rundown look of the property, so we decided to look elsewhere.

This place is a dump!!! Our room was obviously 2 old rooms made into 1, so what would now be considered the kitchen area was at one time a bathroom with huge holes in the floor from where the toilet and shower once were....70's decor and gold linoleum....its absoulutely gross!!! Our neighbors were outside in their underwear drinking beer in the parking lot, shows you what kind of clientele they attract!!! I was hesitant the second we drove up, but becauswe we were tired I thought I'd give it a chance...dead wrong once we saw the inside I realized we should have never even checked in but luckily it was inexpensive so we weren't out much and we left...I'd rather sleep in my car than in that dump!!

I've stayed at this motel many times (and the cabins) and never had any issues. Even back when the previous owner ran the place before his passing. The rooms have always been clean and in order. For a budget motel you can't beat it. It's convenient to every attraction in the area. I mean lets face it, if your going to that area (Munising, along lake Superior) you are there to enjoy the scenery, outdoors, and the other amenities of that area, not spend your time at a hotel with a pool and rec. room. This is a very nice and affordable place.

We stayed for one night, 6 of us in a cabin, it was perfect for what we needed. Soft full size beds, hot, strong shower, coffee maker. TVs are old, but that shouldn't be a deal breaker! There is dining close by, would stay again. 135$ a night off-season was a steal. Thanks so much!

When we pulled up to this motel my husband and son stayed in the car. I went in alone and asked what the rate was per night for one room with two beds or if not available, two rooms. The person who answered the door informed me that the rate was $100. or $80 cash, are you kidding me? I really thought he assumed I was alone with my son, yes an assumption but that is the feeling I had. I went across the street and payed $65.

I highly doubt for the older cabins. You would have to call on the newer ones.
