What can I say, for the money this is as good as your gonna get. Cozy and clean rooms, great views, friendly staff, and delicious food. If you want a rich, lively and cultural experience, this is the place to be. Special thanks to Kailash who went out of his way to make my stay extra pleasant. Cheers!

This is one of my favourite places in the world! Sitting outside Shiva Guesthouse in the sunset, looking at all the local people hanging around the temples at Durbar Square is very meditative. This was my fith or sixth time staying here, and probably I will return again. Rooms are simple but OK. The restaurant has the best momos in... More

We stayed 3 times for a few nights at Shiva's 1. It became a verry pleasant head-quarter for us. The staff is friendly, and acts before you ask. Rooms were clean. Good beds. Plenty of space. Wifi, even outside, while enjoying Durbar Square. Hot showers. Laundry-service. Actually, everything is oké!

This is one of the hotels in Nepal which is a bang for a buck..Very Cheap. I stayed there for 3 nights and I enjoyed every bit of my stay there. The hospitality shown by the owners were just amazing. They are very friendly and makes you feel home away from home. The rooms were small in size but were... More

I stayed in Shiva 1 and really enjoyed it. Never had a hotel located that nice. Waking up and open the curtains and you are in a fairytale. The staff is fantastic and helpfull and they do everything to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Free wifi, hot water, soft beds. The menu is good and balanced with both... More

We asked for, and received, a room at the top with a view of the square. It was great for photography and people watching and not at all noisy as they suggested that it might be. It was clean, plenty of hot water, and the service was prompt and courteous. Food in the restaurant was good, and the omelet requested... More

I stayed here for the first three nights of my trip to Nepal and later for a few nights. I stayed in Shiva Guest House 2, which is just outside the city gate and probably a bit quieter than Shiva1. I was nervous of starting out in the reported noise and squalor of Kathmandu and Bhaktapur seemed a more peaceable... More

We found the SGH1 quite expensive, also they didn't mention anywhere on their website you have to pay the 15$ per person to even enter on Durbar Square. The room was ok, with nice view over the square, the shower was cold. We had lunch and breakfast and found the food quite expensive and not that good.

We spent 2 nights in Shiva Guest House 2 and overall were very happy with our stay. We checked out both SGH1 and SGH2, and the rooms of SGH2 are definitely bigger and more beautiful, whereas in SGH1 you pay the same price, mainly for the view on the Durbar square. SGH2, however, is directly located outside the entrance gate... More
