We watched Ponniyan Selvan 2 on Saturday and this thought crossed our mind - "Why not go see the marvel and walk where the great kings once walked." It was a quick decision and our search for stays resulted in finding a place that was perfect for our short vacay.. Svatma Thanjavur is definitely the go to place if you wish to carry a part of the old Tamil culture, tradition and a lot of sweet memories home.. The ambience and the charm of this place will surely lure you into a different world.. Cleanliness and Hospitality are top notch.. Food is definitely palatable. One thing I would definitely want to mention, its not the place which makes you feel special. Its the people!!! and "Svatma and Team" have aced it!!! A big thank you to Ash, Tamizh, and Swaminathan for going out of the way to give us a delightful experience.. The entrance to the hotel was very welcoming with friendly staff. We were in the old part of the hotel (150 years old) and had one of the colonial rooms . The room was large and comfortable. but the fridge did not work. The restaurant was a disappointed as we could not eat the dinner, badly cooked and it did not look good. The staff need a lot of training

Svatma never ceases to amaze us during each of our visit.Be it the rooms or their warm hospitality, it keeps us wanting to come back.The quality and quantity of food is absolutely delicious.U name something and they get it done .. through out the stay .he it food or anything .I can't end my testimony without mentioning about mr.balaji: a very gentle and warm person who helps us with bookings and all the help needed. Svatma delivered to a high standard. From our arrival to our departure after two nights, we were very well cared for and the food was delicious. Even though it quite a small hotel in physical terms, it has a range of lovely features, from the historic rooms to the beautifully maintained swimming pool and the rooftop bar. We were lucky enough to have a private terrace outside our room on the first floor and it was a joy to sit, soak in the atmosphere and watch the several species of birds in the garden.

The hotel is gorgeous, enriched with heritage and delicious food. The hotel service is excellent and the person who helped us was Satya, whereby she did an excellent service in helping us in any queries and explanations. Very happy with the unique experience in Svatma!

Fabulous heritage hotel with a wonderful team providing fabulous service. We had the cooking demonstration with Vignesh who really tried to dispel the myth that Indian cooking is difficult. He taught us how to whip up a incredibly tasty dish in 5 minutes. There are many things to do and the spa was fabulous as well. We really didn’t notice that the food was all vegetarian. It was all just incredibly delicious. We stayed in the heritage side which though old was a wonderful reminder of the past. I would highly recommend staying here.

We stayed here for two nights as part of our three weeks crossing India from East to West. Great hotel, excellent service with great vegetarian dishes, we aren’t vegetarian but we both enjoyed the food. The room we had was nice and clean.

We just left Swatma today. We really enjoyed our stay, with the staff making it very special . My wife uses a wheelchair and the whole team were very accommodating. The food in the restaurant is actually amazing ( I saw a review that mentioned poor choice, the menu takes a bit of getting used to, but once you look past that it is incredible) . We enjoyed the South Indian curries. Try the mushroom and black pepper curry or the Vada. Also had an amazing massage.

The property is excellent, especially the old wing. The staff are amazing and very helpfull. Breakfast is elaborate and the ghee dosa delicious. We were welcomed in traditional style with kumkum and a scarf, and even our send off was with arti and kumkum and wishes for a safe travel. Artifacts displayed at the property are very tastefully selected. I would recommend staying here most definitely.
