From the views, the grand leafy entrance and the hospitality...this is perfect. There is space between the self contained chalets, a beautiful pond and a great (better than advertised) breakfast. Most of all listen to Rainer when he recommends restaurants and places to visit. He knows the routes, and when the sunlight on the magnificent view points is the best...

From the moment we arrived at Zur Alten Mine we were treated really well. Rainer made it clear that he was always available if we needed something and all the recommendations he made (restaurants and sights) were all fantastic - not just a recommendation of his friends as you often find when you travel. They truly do want you to...

Highly recommended for a quiet weekend getaway. Close to great river fishing for trout. The avid bird watcher will not be disappointed by the bird life at Zur Alten Mine Guest farm and it's close to God's window & Kruger. Enjoy!

For us as a family of five this place was such a retreat for us, it was a home away from home. Great location and natural setting made the experience so relaxing for us all. You will love Rainer and Wilie, nothing is too much for them to see that we were comfortable. Definitely gets our recommendation for those travelling...

As a family we had the pleasure of spending a week at Zur Alten Mine in early January 2014. It was a wonderful experience in a most beautiful and tranquil setting, very conveniently located if you want to explore the surroundings. Our hosts Rainer and Walli were most warm and generous and very attentive to one's needs. The rustic cabins...

I have stayed in many self catering resorts in South Africa and this was definately one of the best. Great attention to detail in the furnishings, all the creature comforts provided and even some extras. the biscuits (which were topped up every day) were delicious. Rainer and Walli were friendly and welcoming. Even though our stay started with an accident...

We stayed at Zur alten Mine in August 2013 and enjoyed our stay. The cabins are very spacious, cozy and clean and are in a great location with views overlooking the surrounding countryside. Blyde River Canyon and surrounding sites are less than a hour away and it takes less than two hours to get to Sabi Sands or Kruger. If...

This was our third stay at Zur Alten Mine and we will definitely be back again. We were priviliged to have stayed for 12 days this time and loved every minute (even with the rainy days). My 10 year old had the choice of Cape Town or Zur Alten Mine, he chose Zur Alten Mine because "they make the best...

Untypical for South Africa, we were mighty surprised to receive the friendliness and quality of what we are used to in Germany / Switzerland / Italy (3 or 4 star hotels). Super friendly hosts, excellent accommodation (in terms of cleanliness, not to mention one of the nicest showers I have had in a long time), great breakfast buffet...we would definitely...
