Unfortunately our worst experience in our round trip. The camp needs tremendous change. The first thing to do is to look for a new chef: the food was lousy. The steak in the evening was barely eatable and looking at the faces (and the plates) at the neighboring table, we weren't the only ones. Desert: it is not that I...

We travelled with another couple and although we enjoyed the game viewing - lions, giraffe, zebra, elephants, walking with rhinos, springbok, waterbuck, oryx, etc, the management is lacking. For example our first morning game drive was due to leave at 7am, but the breakfast buffet was still being assembled at 6.45! The manager was hardly ever to be seen.

This all-inclusive lodge was a great start to our two-week Namibia trip. Lots of nice touches, like welcome drinks, cold towels, and tea-time with posh snacks, and the outings with Salomon were fun and informative. Very friendly staff, especially Sydney. Watching wildlife from the pool and dining area was a treat; we saw all sorts of animals. Well-appointed tent with...

Beautiful watering holes to attract the Big 5 animals and more. Caring and attentive staff and guides. Luxurious accommodations an African Art. Delicious meals and wines. Excellent value! These opinions are from our entire group. We are all very happy :-)

Quite disappointing to have experienced an establishment that has so much potential but is 1) neglected, under-maintained and as if lacking attention, 2) rates are way-to-high for what is offered, 3) plainly overpriced comparing to other establishments in the area, 4) rates itself suggest 'luxury' however there is much to improve to really match what is advertised; Will have to...

I loved loved loved this place!! Each tent has a beautiful outdoor shower (and an indoor one for those who prefer) but you cannot beat the experience of showering outside with the beautiful landscape before you. The rooms are simple but elegant. The food is delicious and out guide was super knowledgeable. He was like a Rhino whisperer or something....

First, the warning: this is a remote location and you will not find all amenities we are used to. foremost, there is no air-condition. We arrived in November when temperatures may reach 35 degree Celsius. Although the tents are lying in the shadow, this can get quite hot. We arrived in the afternoon and were welcomed by the staff with...

We stayed at the tented camp for three days and it was a terrific experience! Each tent has indoor and outdoor showers and full baths. The watering hole right outside the lobby and dining area provided constant wildlife viewing of all sorts of African animals. The staff is friendly and accommodating for every need. The camp manager, Nona, sets the...

We had one night here and it is a very nice camp but probably a little bit dated compared to some of the tented camps. The afternoon game drive was excellent which is inside the private game reserve. The tented rooms are clean and comfortable with views up to the waterhole. The main camp area looks across onto the waterhole...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Ongava Tented Camp is tucked into a hidden valley at the foot of a dolomite hill in Ongava Game Reserve bordering Etosha National Park. Eight large comfortable Meru-style tents all have en-suite facilities, open air showers and private verandas; the family unit sleeps four. The main area, built of stone, canvas and thatch, fronts onto a much-frequented waterhole; watching wildlife coming to drink from here or from the swimming pool is a favourite pastime.Ongava's proximity to Etosha allows for game drives in the National Park and on the Ongava Reserve itself. Other possibilities include guided walks, birding and spending time in hides. Ongava holds one of the largest rhino custodianships for the Namibian government in the country and is one of the few private game reserves in southern Africa where guests can see both black and white rhino. ... more   less
