What a wonderful stay! My girlfriend and I wanted to get out of the city for a couple days, and I really wanted to get to Lake Michigan. We chose Amanda's because of the great reviews. We were warmly received by John while Valerie was cooking in the kitchen. He gave us an overview of our stay, showed us a...

My husband and I decided to go on a biking weekend and in our search for places to stay, found this gem! As others have said, from the moment you enter til you leave, you are treated like family! The breakfasts were delicious...Valerie never missed a beat even the morning the power went out...and so filling! Have shared with many...

From the outside, it looks like a typical 1870's farmhouse with a large garden and chicken pen. Inside we had the good fortune to stay in one of the most comfortable rooms ever---the 1920's room. It had a comfy king bed, a sitting area with 2 wingback chairs and a big-screen TV (wifi too). The bathroom was extra large with...

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us! When the strawberries are coming in fresh every day, you are bound to discover them highlighted in our food! So glad you enjoyed your stay and found the room to your liking. Each one of our rooms are furnished very differently and vary widely but with each having...

From the minute we arrived at Amanda's Bequest, we were treated to the highest level of hospitality imaginable. The grounds are magical -- the outdoor gazebo, goldfish pond, firepit, chicken coop, gardens, sculptures and humorous nature trail all create the feeling of serenity. Once inside the B & B, we were offered bread pudding -- fresh from the oven! It...

The history that comes with this stay was so interesting. Valerie made a delightful breakfast of crepes, grilled asparagus, roasted potatoes. fresh strawberries and fresh eggs from "her girls". Fresh grilled pineapple awaited us and we thought, gee..that's a nice light breakfast with coffee and home made bread and butter. Then Valerie delivered to us at the dining room table,...

The history of this Manse is fun and interesting, we agree. :) Valerie does do breakfast in a big way! We grow a lot of our own food and source it as locally as we can. Thank you for staying at Amanda's Bequest!

We went to one of the murder mystery dinners and then stayed the night. Valerie and John were the best host and hostess ever. They were welcoming and took care of all our needs from the moment we walked in the door. The room was more than we could have expected, spacious and cozy. We will definitely be back.

We hold Murder Mystery dinners once a month from November through May. They have proven a hit event in the area. Attendees have so much fun, we think never has a room held so much laughter. We are so glad you enjoyed yourselves and hope to come back.
