We stayed here with a large group for a wedding. Loved the cabins. Even though the mattresses were not the most comfortable, I very much enjoyed our stay. The cabins have a small kitchenette, the bathrooms are tiny but nice and clean. There are wood burning stoves as well as a furnace. The property is beautiful and relaxing. Would have...

The price was reasonable, especially for a holiday weekend near Traverse City. We stayed in the Hemlock (motel room). It was clean, comfortable and close to the attractions we planned on visiting. As nights are cool we slept with the window shut, therefore we didn't hear the traffic. We walked a short distance to check out the lake, it's beautiful...

We stayed at Ellis Lake on Aug 4-5. First of all, it is not cozy in the woods, the cabins our steps off a major highway. So close you hear the roar of traffic all day/night. Second, we made the reservation expecting to hang out on the lake all day, fishing, boating, and swimming. That idea was squelched as soon...

Thank you for your review, Mphillips1980. First of all, there are no refunds given for late arrivals or early departures. However, if we can re-rent the cabin on the day you leave, we would then consider giving a refund. However, we were not allowed to pursue this option as you left your personal belongings in the cabin past our check...

I chose to spend our second anniversary with my wife here at the Ellis Lake Resort and it was just picture-perfect and a fantastic experience! We got in late on Friday evening and made a camp-fire right in front of our cabin where there were 2 chairs and a picnic table we could sit and enjoy a bottle of champagne....

My family wanted a combination of city destinations and country living for the days we stayed in the Traverse City area during summer 2015. Our plan was for some of us to do outdoorsy things like swimming, hiking, and boating while one person in our family attended some events in Traverse City, and to have leisurely breakfasts and dinners together...

Budget friendly lodging with friendly caring staff that would be ideal for men out on a fishing trip. We needed a place close to our kayak reservation. Buds for breakfast nearby was a real treat- cider donuts, homemade hash, savory veggie pancakes. There is a lake on back of property. Ask for a room away from the road

A very nice stay if you're looking for something low-key and friendly for your stay in the Traverse City area! I stayed here with two friends in the Birch cabin. Becky, the owner, was extremely friendly and went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable, and also directed us towards some great local spots. The cabin was...

The location is excellent, but it's very evident they haven't cleaned or upgraded the cabins in a good decade: The couch stinks of body odor so we can't even sit on it. The bed is VERY uncomfortable , my back was killing me the Whole night. The water heater is older than dirt and kept making a weird scratching sound....

Thank you for your response. Yes, we are in an excellent location to the many wonderful things to do around our beautiful area. There have been upgrades to this unit within the last year. New tile throughout, new paint and new mattresses. I do understand about not being comfortable in a bed. On a recent trip time was spent in...

We come to Ellis Lake Resort every year. We love the rustic feel. The owner is very accommodating and makes sure you have everything you need. It is very beautiful in the fall and the winter. Have not made it up in the spring or summer yet. We got engaged here. We have gone up 3 times and excited to...

My daughter and her husband rented a small cabin for a couple of nights, then upsized to the larger unit when we arrived for the weekend so that we could stay with them while we attended a wedding.
