I don't know which motel the previous reviewers stayed at, but it can't be this one. There was no heat. There was a new AC unit (notice I said AC), but at 46 degrees outside, I needed heat. There are baseboard heaters, but no thermostat. It was too cold to even take a shower and I slept with clothes on. Only one set of outlets to plug in my laptop and that was 2-prong, so make sure you have an adapter. The sink was falling off the wall and I had to play with the facet to find the spot where the water would stop. No fridge or microware, not even a coffee maker. No coffee in the lobby, let alone breakfast. But they have flat screen TVs! They charge you a $10 deposit for the key/remote. WiFi had 1 bar. No desk, uncomfy straight-back chairs. Room was clean but old and in need of renovation.…
Based on the below two reviews, I took a shot. I was in town for 3 days for a three cushion billiards tournament, and wanted to stay in an affordable place close to the tournament. I was not disappointed. It is family owned, and the owners were very nice and accommodating. The rooms are painted bricks, so the name of the place is fitting. You also get a mini-fridge and microwave, and it has Directv with a flat screen. The only cons about the place are the fact that the windows don't seal very well, so if you have a room next to the road, it can be a bit noisy during the day, but other than that, everything was great. If I return to the Grand Rapids area, I'll stay there again for sure. If you want to grab a bite to eat in the neighborhood, I suggest Our Town Deli a few blocks away on Division and 44th street, try the "Michigan Left" sub.…
I decided to take a chance on a low priced motel based on the one review on TripAdvisor. It turned out to be a very small family run motel on a major street south of downtown Grand Rapids. I'm usually leery of places that charge less than $40 a night but was pleasantly surprised that it was clean and neat, with everything working. Nice flat screen tv, bathroom clean, with clean towels. Very, very modest place but it really worked for me on this low budget trip to an art show.
My stay was supereb...I just went for one day but it was truely excellent stay...room was clean and it was very nice and qiet over there....
