We have been loyal customers of the Bavarian Inn for 7 years, every since our first stay there. In October of 2021, after the US/CAN border had been closed due to Covid for 1.5 years, they sent us a bill for $6.00 to renew our membership in their loyalty program. (If you spend $500/year, there is no charge). We emailed them back asking them to waive it, since we as Canadians, were not able to cross the border. They replied no, and promptly cancelled our loyalty membership, along with the $$$ sitting on our account that we hadn't used. We had signed up for the loyalty program in 2018, after deciding that we were going to visit Frankenmuth every year with our family for the Canadian Thanksgiving, which we did in 2018 and 2019. Then we were unable to physically get there in 2020 and 2021, due to the border closure. My husband and I stayed overnight in Frankenmuth on Nov. 14 at the Marriott, (since the Bavarian Inn clearly did not care about our business). While we were in town, we visited the Bavarian Inn to speak to a manager in person, to ask them again to waive the $6.00 renewal fee. The manager said no. I asked him outright...."So you are willing to lose our business for $6.00" and he replied "yes". We had visited the Bavarian Inn 4 times over 7 years for a total of 12 nights. We have many spent many thousands of $$$ with them in their hotel and restaurants. And they are willing to let us go for $6.00. Being a former sales manager for a hotel myself, I am in utter disbelief. We will never stay at the Bavarian Inn again. And we will definitely recommend the Marriott when our friends who know we go to Frankenmuth a lot, ask us where to stay.

The entrance to the Inn is breathtaking. The wooden covered bridge is a welcoming site. Our experience is always wonderful. From the employees to the history to the room. Their German heritage shines through. We love staying here!! Family vacations are a must. Even a relaxing couples weekend can be great. They think of every detail. People smile and greet their guests. Adding to the visit, are the Frankenmuth yearly events. We were fortunate to experience a Balloon Fest. We couldn’t believe how exciting it was to see the hot air balloons fly over the resort. An amazing balloon glow occurred within sight of our balcony. To end the day, there were fireworks. Shouts and applauding came from our resort neighbors. It was fantastic.

This is a very well maintained property with comfortable beds and helpful staff. The kids will be wide eyed with all of the available activities including a very well equipped fun area, multiple pools and waterslides. There is also an adults only pool and whirlpool and many recreation options including pool tables and live entertainment in the lounge area. One area where the property falls short is the availability of guest coffee. There is no coffee in the rooms and the only place to obtain it is in the lobby, which can be quite a walk from many of the rooms. Not to mention that quite the crowd gathers there in the morning hours. A guest would expect such an amenity to be available in the room, or at least on each floor in a hotel of this class. Otherwise, a nice place to stay. No included breakfast. There are dining options onsite.

Dear MotorCity70: Thank you for your kind rating and very helpful feedback. We appreciate your explaining some of the amenities you enjoyed and feel lacking as well. When COVID hit, we were closed for 105 days - dark/locked building. When we re-opened it was with 25% capacity in dining rooms and pools and coffee makers had to be pulled from guestrooms. We immediately initiated free coffee in our Martha's Gift Shop. We received rave reviews on the quality of the coffee verbally and in writing in reviews both. When we had coffee makers in the guestrooms we had zero compliments on the service or the quality of the coffee - in the last 20 years. We felt we were upgrading the quality of the service. Now as mandates have stopped and housekeeping is still apprehensive to handle 1,200 coffee mugs a day and sanitize coffee makers, we decided to build a permanent station with free 24 hour brewed coffee instead. We are hearing about the inconvenience now of this decision. We are building a second station to be open this week in the Tower entrance in the center of the hotel. We hope to make it a DOUBLE station as equipment is available down the road. I am apprehensive to have stations on all floors due to potential vandalism in isolated areas from mischievous adults and children. We shall see where this goes over time. We certainly want to provide great products and services and promise to be reinventing ourselves in all ways - for YEARS to COME! As a child, I always looked forward to visiting the Bavarian Inn (or "Ba-barian Inn" as my toddler self would say). As an adult, not much has changed. The wide swath of available activities is appealing to all age groups. Families with kids will love the pools, arcades, and water parks. Meanwhile, adults will enjoy the bar and adult-only pool and hot tub. There's also an indoor putt-putt course that's fun for all ages. The Bavarian Inn boasts two internal restaurants, and a shuttle to downtown for even more options. I'd highly recommend anyone visiting Frankenmuth stay at the Bavarian Inn Lodge.
