The English Inn is in an old mansion built in the country along the Grand River by a general manager of General Motors Co. of Lansing. The restaurant makes great use of the wood paneled and beautifully decorated rooms. Our 4 course meal started with stuffed mushroom caps and baked brie appetizers. Very good!! My spouse enjoyed a great steak...

We were here to celebrate our daughters birthday. We love to dine here on our special occasions.Four adults & two children who have all eaten here previously. When I asked the waiter about the children's menu he looked at me with displeasure saying' we don't have a children's menu'.I advised him on previous visits the children had eaten from the children's menu.'I...

I live close to here so it did not seem like such a vacation when we decided to go for a post-holiday getaway but it seemed like we couldn't be further from home. We stayed in one of the Cricket Cottages and I highly recommend this option. The rooms in the main house, while beautiful, are kind of over the...

What a beautiful property/ Very quaint and private. I enjoyed the privacy and didn't stay in the main house..Amenities were impeccable. Some of the staff seemed preoccupied with their own drama or issues. Some of the staff was very cordial. Wish they had room service. Other than that, I will stay again. Not cheap - but it's for the experience.

The English Inn is not far from major cities but yet feels so far away. The Inn and land is very picturesque. Beautiful river by their gardens. Food and ambiance very nice. Worth taking the trip here for lunch, dinner, weddings, etc. we've had their fish and chips for lunch and was very good. However, the pot pie was not...

Stayed here for one night en route from Niagara to Chicago. We had booked ivy cottage in the grounds which was very spacious with small kitchen, 2 sitting areas, bedroom and large bathroom. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming. Lovely quiet setting. Enjoyed walking down to the river. Had a delicious meal in the evening: prime rib with...

This was my second visit to The English Inn. I organized a conference for clients here. The meeting facilities are superb. Medovue Hall is very impressive. My sleeping room was The Windsor. It was the original Master Bedroom of the home. Very charming. Some of the staff are very young, and it appears this is their first real job, so...

We are in the midst of renovating a house and needed a night away from it all, comfortable beds and no mess. Upon driving in to the entrance it seemed we found our oasis. The house is beautiful, very well maintained and welcoming. We got our rooms and were so happy! We stayed in the Windsor room and our daughter...

We were at Michigan State for parents orientation and wanted to stay overnight somewhere relatively close to East Lansing. We found the English Inn on Trip Advisor. It is about 20 minutes from East Lansing, not far off of I-96. We chose to stay in the Croquet Cottages. The cottages are buildings separate from the main inn; each building has...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Occasionally, when you may least expect it, you come across a spot in the world where time seems to have stood still, where graciousness of spirit and personal attention to detail still thrive, where the hustle and bustle of the modern world are shut and the lingering taste of a good Burgundy on your palate is all that matters.
