We visited Oakgrove Inn in Landsdowne, Uttarakhand, a few days ago.In many aspects it didn't live upto expectations. The rooms were small and gloomy with worn-out curtains , towels, bedsheets and covers. Rooms and bathrooms were not up to expected cleanliness standards. After a morning of sightseeing, we cut short our visit and left. Cannot be recommended to fellow travelers.
We were very disappointed with our stay at Oak Grove Inn. We had booked based on the photos we had seen of the property in their website. When we arrived we realised that most of the photos were of the owner Col. Rawat's spectacularly beautiful private residence and garden and not of the Inn. The rooms in the Inn are small and shabby with rickety doors and windows, smelly bedclothes and towels and rather substandard furniture and furnishings. There is no room service and the meals are served to a set menu. Since the kitchen is far from the rooms and there is no intercom or reception it was a struggle to get even a bottle of water. Col. Rawat and his wife were gracious and very helpful with local information. They also invited us in for a lovely cup of coffee after dinner. But it was hard to understand how that couple who kept such a lovely house could at the same time run such a shabby and sub-standard Inn. The Inn is at best a low-end lodge and not anything like a resort as claimed. We had planned to stay three nights but after one night we were happy to cut short our trip and return home. Trip Advisor would do well to revise their ratings of this property.…
I stayed at Oak Groove Inn with 3 of my friends for 3 nights in family suite. We all had the most chilled out and pleasant time there as Inn is far detached from any hustle bustle of the city life. Now talking about views. They have the best views in all of lansdowne especially the sunset - just picture perfect. You can enjoy your breakfast and lunch looking at jaw dropping views seen easily from the Inn. Lastly what made the experience staying there perfect was the hospitality of the Hosts/Owners and the hotel staff. We never have to ask twice for anything.Service and food were all but perfect and Col. Rawat guided us on every step and suggested us best places to visit. Also both Col. Rawat & Mrs Rawat were a pleasure to talk with coming at us with all sort of funny stories about wildlife and others. They were too chilled out for their age(especially Mrs Rawat) and we loved it.…
We do not remember how many times we have stayed at Oak Grove Inn. Our excursions to Lansdowne come with a mandatory stay at this home stay. Col. Rawat and Mrs Rawat are no more a host but now are our family friends and we have spent many nice evenings together at this nice and cosy place. Don’t come here with an impression that you are staying at the hotel. You shall have a different experience of staying here.
I had stayed in Oak grove Inn for 2 nights in family suite with my friends.. It was a great experience ..Our Host Col. Rawat is an amazing personality.. he manage this property with great innovation and passion.. Regarding resort and room:: Room was quite spacious with all the amenities inclunding microwave, kettle, LED, gyser etc.. resort was quite clean and on a prime location, not much crowded and very peaceful place..parking space is good and safe.. hotel staff was very courteous and helpful..we had our lunch and dinner in resort itself and that was yummy and very hygienic.. on one of the morning col. Rawat guided us to reach down to a local village to have our breakfast.. we trek down through a dense forest and reached a small village where a friend of col rawat hosted Garhwali breakfast for us in his house.. that was amazing. Really thankful for providing us such beautiful memories of Lansdowne... perfect place for peace lovers..…
