I stayed here along with by friend while we biked to Lansdowne sometimes in 2016. We paid ₹1000 for one room with double bed (along with breakfast), which we found reasonable. Few days ago, one of my acquaintances asked for recommendation for this place and shared the tariff - ₹2500 without any meal (for simplest of the rooms) and I was shocked (hence this delayed review). This is a nice, very simple place to stay (for a day or two) but definitely not worth this price. Secondly, most of the pictures on the website (hosted by the owner) are of his own residence which is tastefully decorated but obviously guests have no access to it - there are no reasons to post these pictures as I would consider it misleading. There are very few pictures of the actual property (or rooms) where guests would be staying - their per night tariff should not be more than ₹1500 on weekends or ₹1200 on weekdays).

Our family of 5 was well cared for. The food was home cooked and the staff was always available on call. Retd. Col Rawat shared some wonderful stories from his life and we had good conversations. The family room was quite spacious and we'll maintained for our liking.

Nestled in a quaint little village JaiHari khal, Oak Grove inn is a comfortable, homelike stay if you are visiting Lansdowne. A climb of 45 kms from kotdwar will take you to the headquarters of Garhwal Rifles. The cantt part is of course all prim and proper as all are. Oak Grove Inn is 15 min further up from the main lansdowne town. As you are driving up, you would come across a small village called Jai Harikhal . The Inn is immediately after the village market ends. It is owned and managed by the couple Col and Mrs. Rawat since 2008. They have a parking place good enough for three cars which we usually do not find in the homestays/ lodges in the hills. The cars have to parked on the road most of the time. They have a nice sit out place outside the rooms where you can enjoy a nice view while having tea or just chill out with a book. it is not like that you are cooped up in the room all the time and to enjoy the view you have to go out. We were welcomed warmly by the staff, who , all of them deserve a special mention. They were ever helpful and quick to serve. Always available on a phone call since the intercoms are not there, we never had to call them twice for anything that we needed. The property has nice cute little sit outs on various levels where again you can chill out with your group or alone whatever your preference is. The food is homecooked, delicious and is made fresh in case you wish to have it there. It is served in nicely done up dining room at two flight of stairs down. The staff checks with you well in time for the same just in case you ae sightseeing and eat out. This works well and is a good practice since the resources in a hill village are hard to manage and cannot by any means be wasted. Though the menu is fixed, we didn't feel the need to have anything added or changed. In fact one of the meals we requested for something light and they were more than happy to oblige. The rooms are a little let down. While it is understandable that it is a 14 years old property , a little upgradation would do wonders to make them much more comfortable. Like if the window curtains are put up right next to the angled windows rather than in a straight line, the room will look cosier and a little bigger. Also, some of the furniture in the room could be in a better shape. The washroom had all the amenities. Col and Mrs. Rawat are a very gracious and lively couple. They are very good hosts and try their best to make you feel at home.

We visited Oakgrove Inn in Landsdowne, Uttarakhand, a few days ago.In many aspects it didn't live upto expectations. The rooms were small and gloomy with worn-out curtains , towels, bedsheets and covers. Rooms and bathrooms were not up to expected cleanliness standards. After a morning of sightseeing, we cut short our visit and left. Cannot be recommended to fellow travelers.

We were very disappointed with our stay at Oak Grove Inn. We had booked based on the photos we had seen of the property in their website. When we arrived we realised that most of the photos were of the owner Col. Rawat's spectacularly beautiful private residence and garden and not of the Inn. The rooms in the Inn are small and shabby with rickety doors and windows, smelly bedclothes and towels and rather substandard furniture and furnishings. There is no room service and the meals are served to a set menu. Since the kitchen is far from the rooms and there is no intercom or reception it was a struggle to get even a bottle of water. Col. Rawat and his wife were gracious and very helpful with local information. They also invited us in for a lovely cup of coffee after dinner. But it was hard to understand how that couple who kept such a lovely house could at the same time run such a shabby and sub-standard Inn. The Inn is at best a low-end lodge and not anything like a resort as claimed. We had planned to stay three nights but after one night we were happy to cut short our trip and return home. Trip Advisor would do well to revise their ratings of this property.

I stayed at Oak Groove Inn with 3 of my friends for 3 nights in family suite. We all had the most chilled out and pleasant time there as Inn is far detached from any hustle bustle of the city life. Now talking about views. They have the best views in all of lansdowne especially the sunset - just picture perfect. You can enjoy your breakfast and lunch looking at jaw dropping views seen easily from the Inn. Lastly what made the experience staying there perfect was the hospitality of the Hosts/Owners and the hotel staff. We never have to ask twice for anything.Service and food were all but perfect and Col. Rawat guided us on every step and suggested us best places to visit. Also both Col. Rawat & Mrs Rawat were a pleasure to talk with coming at us with all sort of funny stories about wildlife and others. They were too chilled out for their age(especially Mrs Rawat) and we loved it.

We do not remember how many times we have stayed at Oak Grove Inn. Our excursions to Lansdowne come with a mandatory stay at this home stay. Col. Rawat and Mrs Rawat are no more a host but now are our family friends and we have spent many nice evenings together at this nice and cosy place. Don’t come here with an impression that you are staying at the hotel. You shall have a different experience of staying here.

I had stayed in Oak grove Inn for 2 nights in family suite with my friends.. It was a great experience ..Our Host Col. Rawat is an amazing personality.. he manage this property with great innovation and passion.. Regarding resort and room:: Room was quite spacious with all the amenities inclunding microwave, kettle, LED, gyser etc.. resort was quite clean and on a prime location, not much crowded and very peaceful place..parking space is good and safe.. hotel staff was very courteous and helpful..we had our lunch and dinner in resort itself and that was yummy and very hygienic.. on one of the morning col. Rawat guided us to reach down to a local village to have our breakfast.. we trek down through a dense forest and reached a small village where a friend of col rawat hosted Garhwali breakfast for us in his house.. that was amazing. Really thankful for providing us such beautiful memories of Lansdowne... perfect place for peace lovers..

What it says they deliver much far more exceeding the expectations. I had visited Landsdowne with my son who lives in Germany and was lucky to find accommodation in this resort which caters best of the best and at a very reasonable cost compared to any others in this location. It has the finest ambiance and surroundings from where you could watch the beauty of the place and the best sights of the mountains all over. The owner who himself is a highly decorated officer of the Indian Army and his wife belonging to the royal family of the region have made this beautiful resort which itself speaks volumes of the Garhwali Culture with nice blend to western style which one finds very rare combination on hills. We all enjoyed the delicious food, well kept rooms and the professional staff who are like your family always there to make your stay even more pleasant. I will again visit this place as many times I Can. Syed Jamil from Noida.

Had a really enjoyable home stay at this lovely place. Col & Mrs Rawat give a very personal touch to everything and ensure that we had a very comfortable stay. The food was like eating at home - well made, tasty and without any excessive oil or spices. Our dog enjoyed the peaceful walks in the hills. The rooms were well maintained and tastefully kept. The small nursery had a lot of quaint plants and there are lovely flowers all around.
