Rachel is just awesome. It had been a hellish hard, wet, windy trek so to finally get to Gillercombe was a welcome relief. Everything off at door (except me) as it was all wet through, up to our rooms to shower. My shower was downstairs, again with a bath, oh how good that bath was too. All amenities supplied, soap,...

Even if the accommodation wasn't cleaner than a microprocessor manufacturing plant, the breakfast hearty, the beds comfortable, and the location ideal for the C2C, it's be worth going just to chat with Rachel and meet her parrot. Luckily it is also all of those things. Although any future visit would be without the eternal amusement from the bonkers Aussies who...

Super welcoming traditional B&B with a lovely landlady and an inquisitive parrot! Really enjoyed my brief stay here, room was very comfortable, shower was like a water canon and the breakfast was great.

Arrived at our accommodation after a long and extremely tiring day on the C2C trail. Our host Rachel met us at the door and I'm not sure whether she took pity on us or whether she was just glad that we had arrived. We probably couldn't have walked another step we were so tired so she showed us to the...

Very good place. Although my friend and I shared the bathroom with five other guests, we never had to wait because (i) Rachel ushers you into the shower as soon as you arrive, (ii) there is a toilet in a separate room so one person can be going to the bathroom while another is showering, and (iii) there's a sink...

Made to feel very welcome by Rachel after a tough day on the C2C walk. She is a person with considerable experience of this walk and is happy to share her ideas to help others. A capable person, Rachel runs this place by herself in a relaxed but professional manner. She is a considerate person and went out of her...

I have stayed with Rachel a number of times whilst I've been walking, more often than not on Wainwrights C2C. She is always warm and welcoming, tea and biscuits when you arrive, exhausted, lovely comfortable room, lots of hot water for weary limbs and a first class breakfast. All this at what, in The Lake District, is a very affordable...

We had just completed the higher level alternative over Red Pike, Hay Stacks and we were absolutely FINISHED. We arrived at 7:15pm to a berating. My husband quickly got the feeling that the hostess wasn't the nicest of people and went out to the pub and left my sister and I to cope with her. My sister and I were...

We arrived a few hours later than we expected after a hard days hiking Crinkle Crags and other peaks in the area. Rachel was very welcoming. Her home is absolutely spotless. Very spacious rooms. Lovely breakfast. An absolute gem.

“Rooms are very small here and at many of the B&B while on the C2C! Pack as light as you can! It is amazing how often you can get laundry done for 5pounds a load. If you use the laundry services and take fewer things you will be much happier!”
