The first thing I noticed was the clean smell in the lobby. Rooms were clean. Showers had great water pressure and hot water. Toilets are low which may be a problem for those with knee/hip problems. Beds were high and comfortable. Good variety of options for breakfast.

Overall the stay was tolerable. Upon check in, the desk clerk’s manner wasn’t as professional as it could have been. She seemed annoyed when my husband asked for a fresh pot of coffee in the lobby.
First night, the temperature in the room was hard to regulate using the wall mounted unit which I have always done in the past. Upon checking with the morning clerk, I learned I should have adjusted the temperature using the register under the window. Without any prior knowledge of this, it was impossible to regulate the temp.
At breakfast, the employee that served the breakfast was very nice. However, the food was tepid at best. Granted we ate later (about 9 am) but hot food should be hot. The pancakes were tough.
The room was quiet and sufficient. Room was located close to the elevator which was convenient. Nice sized bathroom but the toilet was quite low. I killed a spider in the bathroom the second morning (reported same to the desk clerk who apologized).
Easy check out. Hotel is near interstate so it was easy to find.
We have stayed at this location in the past but doubtful if we will in the future.

When we first arrived at the hotel on Saturday afternoon the lobby and hallways was extremely hot and smelled very musty. They had big fans blowing in the hall; guessing due to issue with the air conditioner. I was concerned that our room would be warm as well; yet it was cool when we opened the door. We got checked in with no issue and went to our room and I noticed a few of things:
1) Hair in the sink; not ours as we had not even used the restroom yet – see attached picture
2) Dirty tile floor right as you enter the room – see attached picture
3) Carpet felt damp and just not clean
I wanted to make the most of our day so we just decided we would just dropped our bags and deal with it later when we returned to the hotel. As soon as we returned there was a line at the front desk and my kids wanted to swim so we headed to the pool. After only being in the pool for about 10 minutes the front desk lady by the name of Angela came in and told us there was an issue and we had to leave the pool and it was closing for the night. Of course my kids were upset as they were planning on swimming that evening. I headed upstairs to shower and
change; at that point realized there were only 2 large towels in our room with 4 people. At this point I headed downstairs to take with the agent at the front desk. She was on the phone and at first no one else in the lobby she never once looked up from the phone or acknowledged I was even there; this went on for some time as others came into the lobby she finished her first call and took another without even looking up to advise us she would be with us in a few moments. Angela was unprofessional with her tone and attitude when she finally spoke with me;
from listening to her speak to the people on the phone she just seemed annoyed with working. When Angela was finally off the phone I was very friendly to her and wanted her to know I empathized with her yet she continued to be very harsh and almost yelling at me. I ask her first for a few more towels and while I was trying
to explain it was due to not enough in the room vs just wanting more she just cut me off and walked away. At first I thought she had just left but she came back a few minutes later with 2 towels; at that time I thanked her and tried to say something else to her about the issues in our room but she was already rudely addressing the next person in line.
Definitely won't be recommending this hotel!

We stay at a lot of Holiday Inns but this one we didn't really care for. All the employees are very nice, friendly and helpful and will go out of their way to accomodate you. Our problem was the room. It was very clean but it was kind of a dark room. The furniture was black which made it seem even darker and the room was smaller than other ones we have stayed in. We were on the corner so there were two windows but it still didn't seem very bright in there. The windows also had a fog on half of the window where it looked like the seal between the glass might have leaked. Made it hard to look out that part of the window. The bed was comfy and the bathroom was nice. Had a shower stall and not a tub with shower. We also had a fridge and microwave that worked great. We just didn't like the darker room. When I mentioned it to the people who worked there they all just said something about a lot of lights to turn on. But its not bright for curling hair and putting makeup on. But its a nice hotel and the cost is average for this area.

We booked this hotel for our first trip away in over 24 years. We had plans to visit Frankenmuth but no hotels were vacant in the immediate area. We booked a jacuzzi room at this hotel. We were able to check in at 3:45 and the staff was amicable. The tub itself was pretty clean however it was apparent this room was not worth what we paid. We paid over $600 for two nights. The furniture was updated but the room itself was in need of repairs. The drywall was shoddy, and the carpet didn't match the tile flooring. The corners of the shower had dirt/grime/buildup in them. The lines left by the dust mop were obvious on the floors and the overhead above the tub had not been wiped down in some time.
On the first morning, breakfast was set to start at 6:30 a.m. There were very few items ready at that time. When we went back down later the dining area was very busy and there was a worker standing by the commissary on her phone face timing someone on her phone and cussing and yelling about how everyone was mad at her and it was so busy. The second night there we attempted to use the hot tub by the pool but there was a man in the tub vaping and coughing the entire time. We went back to our room to use the jacuzzi tub. It's slow to fill and even slower to drain (also, it's very loud while draining and took about an hour). The walls in this hotel are very thin. We were kept awake both nights at different times due to the noise of workers and neighbors.
The bathroom door does not stay open and opens oddly. It would be nice if it stayed open to let the steam out after a shower or just to have the light on instead of the main lighting.
While we enjoyed our time in the area, this hotel was definitely not in the top 10 things about it. It was not worth the amount we paid-save your money and book downtown!

Dear HIzzyPizzle, Thank you for choosing the Holiday Inn Express Birch Run for your recent visit to the Birch Run area. Thank you for your comments. We appreciate when our guests take the time to let us know how we are doing. Please be sure to bring any concerns to the attention of Front Desk at any Hotel you may be staying with , we are here to ensure an enjoyable experience during your stay. I apologize for the unfortunate series of events which led to a less then desirable stay. The Breakfast Attendant that morning was the direct cause of the food and service issues and has since been terminated. Had we been made aware of the person vaping in the pool area, he would have been asked to leave. I have shared your comments with my Maintenance and Housekeeping Staff to ensure your concerns are addressed accordingly. Thanks again for your comments, Warm regards, Kurt Kendziorski General Manager

We've never had trouble with a Holiday Inn Express before. This time was bad! The lobby and hallways smelled strongly of marijuana. Thankfully our room didn't, but we were concerned our clothes would. I know that Michigan has legalized it, but does this hotel allow it to be smoked inside?! I would think all smoking must be done outside.
Also, our room lacked a blow dryer, which they provided after requesting. The noise from other rooms was too loud, especially for late during the night. There was some mold in the shower.
We were very disappointed with this stay. Won't make that mistake again!

The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Mattress was very high suggest foot stool for shorter people so they can get into bed. Hot tub great and pool not busy. A number of construction workers were staying there, they were good representatives of America's youth. Breakfast was enjoyable.

Since Holiday Inn has “updated” their look, we find the rooms cold, dark, and less comfortable.
That said, the room was very clean, and the breakfast was good.
We will likely stay here again, provided the price was right. There are lots of options available in the area, so they will have to keep their rates competitive.

A solitary hotel on a stark lot by itself surrounded by other cookie cutter hotels The Holiday Inn Burch Run, Michigan was a part way stop on our drive to upper Michigan as it’s described there. Neither expensive or fancy, likely exactly what you’d expect from a hotel room costing around $150. Similar to hundreds of like establishments across America neither in a tourist area nor a major metropolitan center, I apologize to Burch run residents when I say this hotel could be described as in the middle of no-where.
Save for the fact that it lies just off of the major north/south corridor of route 75 some 20 miles north of Flint Michigan makes it a convenient stop for people traveling that route. The area I would describe as a tourist stopover is complete with a number of chain restaurants, numerous gas stations, a dying factory outlet Mall, a couple of car dealers and little else to distract your good night’s sleep. And, that’s exactly what the Holiday Inn offers. With a little less than a hundred rooms on two floors, that are above all else clean and comfortably updated, a pool and decent free breakfast make this place a bargain for the price, check out the automatic pancake maker.
Pleasant staff were available around the clock. Ground floor rooms have parking right outside your window. I couldn’t have asked for more from a place that was a mere stop-over. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again if I’m in the area.

We are in the finishing stages of our public areas and exterior. There are planned detailing and touch-ups to come which are not expected to impact our guests. We are expecting most of the renovation to be complete by August 31st. The pool and hot tub are not effected by the renovation and are fully operational. We are waiting on furniture for the Living Area near the fireplace in the lobby.
We are pet friendly at this time. There is a $35 fee for the first night and $10 each additional night. We try to limit our pet friendly rooms to First Floor due to serviceability along with all room types are available on that floor for a variety of room type options. Thanks for your question.
Hello Marge W,
Thanks for asking to see our pool area. Please check out the photos on our Tripadvisor profile page. Our pool and Spa are heated to 90 and 101 degree. The surrounding temp is warm as well. Plenty of seating and towels are provided.
