The staff was very friendly, but the hotel is dated. The General Manager and Maintenance Staff were very friendly and willing to fix and accommodate anything we needed. The hotel could use some new beds, but the pillows were fantastic. We opted to not use the pool and hot tub as there was a film on the water and the bottom of the hot tub. I would say you get what you pay for, but we had other family stay at a different hotel nearby for the same price and theirs was way cleaner.

I was taking a weekend getaway to Frankenmuth and I know that Birch Run has some fine hotels right near Frankenmuth at usually a better price. I generally have had many wonderful experiences with Country Inn and Suites but this stay was incredibly disappointing. The first thing you notice is that the hotel smells strongly of chlorine. I can certainly live with that but if you are sensitive to smells this is pretty strong. The next thing is that the wifi is beyond horrible. I had 3 different devices with me and all of them struggled to log into the wifi, to stay on the wifi and when it was on, the speed made me long for the old dial up days. If you want a hot shower don't come to this hotel. Seemed to me that the shower almost had a device on it to prevent it from going to hot. The bathroom sink had plenty of hot water but the shower wouldn't let you turn the heat up very far. The second day the beds were also not made up properly but that I could have lived with. Finally and this is the thing that probably could have been the most easily taken care of but was the thing that grossed me out the most was when on the last day that I needed some ice, I opened the ice bucket only to find this disgusting mix of something leafy and mold. I told management and they apologized. Seriously a little more investigation would have been nice and there is no way they can't be aware of that wifi.

We picked this hotel because of the price. (If you are interested in location, it is right next to the outlet mall and within walking distance of several restaurants.) But this facility looks like it needs a refresh. We were disappointed with the quality of the room. The room was clean, the water in the shower was hot, the bed was comfortable and the pillow didn’t leave me with a sore neck. There is a nice tall counter in the living room area above the refrigerator and microwave, and the bathroom sink is tall.
But—the first thing we noticed was the musty smell and the room felt humid the entire night. There are black spots above the bathroom sink and under where the hair dryer hangs (mold?)—looks like someone has tried to wipe off a couple of these spots. There is a crack in the shower surround. The ceiling has a patched area that is an incomplete fix. A towel rack above the toilet was removed and the screw holes spackled but not smoothed out. The ceiling light in the bedroom had only one working light bulb. The sconces in the bedroom had two kinds of light bulbs. The batting in the quilt is bunched up giving the bed a lumpy appearance. The couch and chair in the living room look worn and there is a raveling spot on the couch.
I doubt this is part of the property, but there is an active oil well with a controlled fire at the north end of the parking lot.

I would not recommend this hotel! Our stay was booked as a Christmas family holiday however we left 1 night earlier than our reservation. This was due to a number of contributing factors. The room had a large stain on the carpet as we walked in…. Then the smell hit you. I’m still having trouble pin pointing it, something like mildew, must and chemical sprays (could be the oil well openly burning run off beside the hotel as well, front desk said it been burning off for 30+ years). The room door shut but you could still see the hallway through the bottom of the door frame. This made it quite loud for sleeping with kids actively running the halls and people generally not respecting that it is a hotel and having loud conversations (Not the hotels fault). I normally sleep like a rock in hotels but these were the worst 2 nights ever. Our room windows had quite a bit of condensation on them along with visible mold/mildew along the top. The bathroom had hairs stuck on the walls upon check-in. The pool was very dated, in disrepair and pool deck had A LOT OF HAIR on it. I get that it is a shared pool and cleaning would only happen once per day however over 3 days we were the only people I saw using it (hard to say no to a 4 year old when that’s the only thing her heart was set on). The pool had a window open at all times even after I shut it the first day it was open the next. For context it was -10°C (14°F) outside which created a huge amount of steam and a cold breeze. We ended up cutting our vacation short by a night because of these factors. I’m a construction guy that has stayed in some seedy places but they were always cleaner than this place. I don’t know how they have a 3 1/3 star…… 2 at best. Recommendation spend a little extra and don’t stay here

My husband booked the hot tub room thinking that after all day of driving we would want to relax. The hotel manager offered us a weak discount for the hot tub being unusable due to a plumbing issue. The room was disgusting! The plumbing issue resulted in a wet floor which means it wasn’t properly cleaned! Why would you offer a guest this room?! There was an obvious water mark from the plumbing issue and the water from the hot tub overflowing and the carpet was damp. I put towels down as a walkway to the bed so my feet didn’t get wet. I wanted to say something to management but my husband told me to let it go. I wish they would just give us a refund because we spent around $150 a night on this garbage! The fact that management didn’t give us a better discount for the plumbing issues, called it a nice room and stuck us in there is atrocious! Nothing seemed all that clean either! There were spiders in the room dead and alive! I am so disappointed at this hotel and would never recommend it to anyone I know! The outside is nice but our room on the first floor was horrible! All of our clothes smelled like chlorine from the pool when we got home too and we didn’t even use it! Yuck! It’s important to note that my husband and I aren’t picky. We’ve stayed in odd places but never this dirty! Management should be ashamed they offered us this for $150+!!!
The continental breakfast was decent at best- bagels, cereal, apples, eggs, potatoes, breakfast meats and drinks but it’s nice to put something in your system before heading out all day. The staff were amazing during breakfast- very friendly and kind.
In closing, you should never offer a guest a room with active plumbing issues where the floor is wet.

Let me start by listing the pluses of this hotel: 1) Location…
That’s it. Other than location this hotel has nothing going for it. The rooms were outdated and not very clean. The one I was staying at had a ripped shower curtain, stained pillow covers, and my wife had to literally wipe down the shower, because of how dirty and gritty it looked. If you are a person that likes to sleep in during your vacation, make sure you are not booked in a first floor room. The hotel has this idiotic policy where the pool is opened from 6 AM to midnight and the rooms located in the first floor are literally next to the pool. During my stay kids and their parents filled the pool at 7 AM yelling screaming and doing what kids do in a pool very early in the morning. I would probably not stay here ever again. And by the way, the front desk clerk had a lot to learn when it came to customer service. Not that she was mean or anything like that, but her demeanor was just simply not inviting and or accommodating.

Great deal! We paid around $85 (AARP discount) which included a hot breakfast. The room was a decent size, it was very clean, and very quiet, even though is was near a busy road and the Birch Run outlet center. We almost stayed at the Bavarian Inn in Frankenmuth (about 5 miles away), and that would have been over twice as much. They quoted us $189, and we paid less than half that amount. The hot breakfast was ok - eggs, sausage and gravy, fruit, bagels and toast - your normal fare. If you want to save a bit of cash, stay here - you won't be disappointed.

Staff were friendly. The weather stripping around the door was missing so you could see through the door and the door frame was broken. The lightbulb on one of the nightstands was broken and there were no replacement bulbs to be found when my husband asked the front desk. The outlets would not hold my phone charger in place. The shower did not drain well. The vending machine was $2 for food and only accepted coins. The hallways were dirty. Would not recommend.

My friend and I booked this for a quick trip to go shopping for 2 days. Upon checking in, it was quick and the staff was nice. She explained the breakfast and pool hours to us. The hallways were overwhelmed with the smell of pool smell strong, even on the 3rd floor! The key readers are old and it takes a few times to swipe to get in the room. We found that the room was dirty, stains in the carpets, sheets and blankets, curtains and screens had large holes, shower curtain was torn and everything had an odor. There was so much dust in the wall air/heat unit. The pillows were uncomfortable, small and the best was not good. The pool made your eyes burn and there was a ton of scum on the bottom of the pool and hot tub had no heat. That was why we went there but we didnt stay very long. Someone on our floor had a dog that kept barking constantly, but we were told this was not a hotel that accepted pets. When I messaged down to the front desk to mention these things, i was ignored.
