Located just off the interstate. We stayed here while visiting Frankenmuth. Room had an usual odor that I can’t describe but it burned our noses. We tried spraying air freshener to no avail. This room had dead bugs on the floor and in the bed along with spiders in the bed (under the covers). Needless to say we left. Do better Days Inn…smh
We took pics to show to front desk.

I decided to book this hotel for one night and the price was right. Unfortunately there was a reason the price was so good. The wall outlet at the desk didn’t work and the room definitely showed it’s age. One of the queen beds had such dirty sheets I couldn’t believe they hadn’t thrown them out. If you need a place to stay for one night it’s ok.

There are some good and bad reviews about this hotel. Hopefully, from my own experience, I can share fairly what people can expect from this hotel.
My family stayed in this hotel for a few days around Christmas. Thanks to previous post, I went straight to Best Western to check in. Staffs are very friendly and check in was fast.
I have never stayed in Best Western, so I can't compare the room with BW. For the price I paid, I didn't expect the room would be close to one I see from one such as Hampton. And I was right, it was more like a motel's room. But compare to the motel I had stayed before, Magnuson's room was in better condition. Like some reviews mentioned, the blanket was thin. But my family already prepared, we know some hotel may be too hot or too cold during the night. So we were okay!
The building was at the back, and the breakfast area was in main building, the one we checked in. So would have to do a bit walking at the morning to have breakfast. But the breakfast was great. Nice big area for breakfast.
Location was good. Very very close to the outlet mall. And only a short drive to Frankenmuth. However, because it was so close, sometime it was challenging to get in/out because of the heavy traffic. If you find it difficult to make a left turn to the hotel, don't worry. Simply keep go straight and make a left turn on the traffic light right ahead. After that, you can make a left turn to the complex that can eventually go directly to the hotel. And that's for day time, when dark, it become very difficult to return to the hotel. The entrance had absolutely no light at all. The best alternative I can suggest is to try to go to Subway and then drive from there to the hotel. I believe this is the safest and easiest way.
Considering the location, the money I save every night we stayed, and the good breakfast. This hotel is not really that bad at all. Of course, paying 30+ more every night would have a much nicer hotel room. It's the call you will need to make when booking. I wish there is a hotel that offer super low rate with everything in excellent condition too. But I have not never seen any available.
And based on everything I considered, Magnuson is okay, not very good, have some negatives, but okay. It's worth to consider.

Do not stay here. We booked last minute and it was advertised as a hotel. Not at all. A barely renovated motel is what it is. Some things have been re done, however, the doors, showers, stairs, outside areas are flat out scary. Good luck feeling safe here. We were checked in to a room with a broken toilet that they “tried to fix” then finally moved and refused a refund. Save yourself the trouble and stay somewhere else.

Don’t waste your money. This is a shell game. The Best Western owns the property. All the pictures and amenities shown are strictly for Best Western guests. You pay for the quality and respect of Best Western and get pooped on like fourth or fifth class guests. Rooms are dirty, unkempt, broken fixtures and won’t change your room or make it right. Thrash just sitting outside the doors, blood on carpet.

The hotel is more of an outdated motel, that place was extremely outdated. I found a lightning bug on the wall, the bathroom smelled musty. The front desk staff were not very friendly and didn't seem to care that I was checking out. As for checking in it's not Charly marked outside as to where you check in at. No where was it marked as to where the ice or vending was had to ask another guest where it was at. The pillows need replaced as they were not very comfortable. I've started in old hotels before but this was the worst and I won't be back.

This place is a joke! Not one of the photos that are on the website are pictures of this hotel! Our room smells horrible, the pool was smaller than the hot tub, (not to mention about 65 degrees) no towels, not even a fridge. I would never recommend to anyone thought about sleeping in our car! Star rating? How about a 😷 rating?

Great location in Birch Run, near the outlet mall. Hotel service was friendly and efficient. Lobby, reception, bar was remodeled and upscale. Room was clean and comfortable. Pool was not that hot, water a little murky. The breakfast was amazing, Full hot breakfast, on real china, no paper plates. Coffee served to you at your table. This was the best hotel we stayed at on our 5 day road trip. Wifi was fast.

Their website shows 4 stars. This is far short. Let the pics speak for themselves. 120 weekend stay for this. Take a look at their deluxe continental breakfast. Beds are at least co.fortable. don't be fooled by the pics. Every unit is outside.
