My husband and I had a wonderful time at The Cove last week! Our room was very clean, the staff was very attentive, the hotel itself was clean and quiet as it was mostly middle aged couples like us. Our room was on the 3rd floor, and we had a beautiful view of the water/beach. We also enjoyed looking at the mansions that were lit up beautifully at night along the shoreline. Highly recommend! This quaint little inn is perfectly located across the street from Front Beach and less than a 1/2 mile from walking to the center of town. The beach is a cove beach so no big waves - it is more like a lake with gentle surf. Entry into the hotel and your room is using codes provided by hotel management to you via text and email. We loved the views of the beach and ocean from our room and the decks of the inn, and also walking the garden that is adjacent to the inn. Note that there are stairs with no elevator option or access ramps if handicapped.

Room Tip: Not a handicapped friendly property given the stairs and that there’s no elevator, lift or ramps....

We stayed at one of the "town homes" in May 2022. Our family of 5 was super comfortable in this space and it was so so convenient to be near the beach and in walking distance of all the sweet shops in Rockport. We would totally stay here the next time we're in Rockport. Thank you The Cove!

What a wonderful find in Rockport! Adorable room with awesome views, super comfy linens and beautiful location. We stayed in Room 11 with our own balcony and it was simply perfect. We walked to shops & restaurants and beach and didn't even need our car.

I loved my stay at the Cove at Rockport! Very quaint little place. It was the best of both worlds. Smaller and more intimate then a hotel with an Airbnb feel, but the uniform business feel of a hotel. I was looking for a romantic, well equipped little getaway. Something with a beach view, cozy beds and cable/Roku, but I did not want to stay at the big corporate owned hotel in Gloucester. This spot was perfect. The vibe was very beachy and relaxing. They had everything a family or couple might need. I even saw some beach chairs in closet. I stayed in room one which was a suite. Perfect for a family. Right on the beach. Everything looked very fresh and current, like it was newly remodeled/ well maintained. The “club house” was very cute and looked like a nice place to hang. The esthetic was modern beach but in an old building with a historic New England feel that is very in place with the surroundings. Location was great. Beach across the street. Very nice park with a babbling brooke right in the “back yard”. Keyless check in made everything easy and safe. Plenty to do in the area. Can’t wait to come back in summer!

My husband and I just stayed one night- a little get away to the North Shore. The Cove is beautifully decorated, and our room was really clean. The king bed was extremely comfortable and there was a little mini fridge and coffee maker. It was a last minute reservation, so I was happy to even get a room. Our room was off of the huge deck, which I'm sure is fun in the Summer. Management was very good at communicating with me, as well as checking in once we were there to make sure everything was ok. It is a contact less check in, but they provide a web link with more than enough information about everything. The bonus/ game room was really cute too- a nice extra feature of staying there. The hotel is walking distance to Rockport center, so it was nice to not have to drive to dinner. Hope we can go back in the Summer!

This hotel was our last one on a 4 night trip through Maine and MA and was our favorite hotel in MA. We arrived for our 1 night stay the day before the Nor'Easter blew in. Our room was number 1 which had a direct view to Front Beach. It was very windy and rainy the day we arrived, so were not able to use the beautiful deck but the view was incredible. Our room had a separate bedroom with 2 beds and a king sized bed in the main room. It was plenty big enough for the 2 of us and was comfy enough that we invited the kids and grandkids over for a visit. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the coffee maker and fridge were a welcome addition. Down below our room was the clubhouse. What a great space to spend time in! As mentioned in previous reviews, the checkin was completely hands free. We had no issues with this and any inquiry we had was promptly addressed by text. Parking is adjacent to the property and was slightly inconvenient due to the weather situation during our visit. We would love to come back and spend more time in this hotel and town.

We stayed 2 nights for our anniversary! The inn seemed newly updated and was very clean! We stayed in room 8 and had a king bed and an awesome view from our window and deck outside the window! We loved how we could open the window and hear the waves! It is also less then a 10 minute walk to all the shops and restaurants. We arrived late but were easily able to check in ourselves. We needed some more toiletry items and were able to get them from the supply closet ourselves. My only compliant is we could hear the room above us walking around all evening and then early the next morning. The rooms aren’t that big so I am not sure what they were doing. I think they may have had chicken, which was surprising since it was only for 2 people and I don’t think this is a good place to bring kids. Even with that I would still highly recommend and stay again!

We had a very negative experience initially and wanted to make others aware that this property operates like an air bnb, not like a hotel as there is no one on site to address problems that arise. We checked in on Saturday and when I turned down the beds around 8pm I noticed that the sheets on one of the beds had two large crusty brownish gray stains on it and clearly had not been washed. I called the main number, which was answered by a remote answering service, and was told that no one is on site after 5pm so I would need to go to the supply closet in the main part of the hotel, find the new sheets and change the bed myself. When I went to the closet, there were sheets for full and queen side beds but none for king beds. I called back and was put on hold for over 10 minutes. By now it was 9:15pm. The woman on the phone got in touch with the manager (who is also no on site) and I was told that someone would be there in an hour to change the sheets. I told her that I had two young kids that needed to go to bed and that an hour wait was unacceptable. She put me on hold again, and then came back and said the manager would be there in 15-20 minutes. The manager arrived at 9:40pm and was horrified at the stains. She changed the sheets herself and told us that the owners run the property like an air bnb so typically no one is on site and guests are expected to be self sufficient. Which would be fine except that they market it like a boutique hotel so I expected there to be service or someone on site to speak to about problems. The manager was fantastic and very apologetic about the situation and said she would speak to the owners about compensating us for the situation. But ultimately they offered a very small token gesture of compensation, especially compared to the $900+ we spent for two nights over Labor Day weekend! We were really disappointed with the start to our vacation because of this experience. The rest of the visit was fine, but I don’t feel as though the way this property is presented is fully honest in terms of guest expectations.

The location alone, facing a public beach with the sound of waves to lull you to sleep, makes The Cove worth it. But they’ve also done a nice job creating a boutique hotel experience-pleasant rooms, crisp linens, fridge, AC, microwave, access to a “Club Room” to sit and relax. Everything now is no-contact, from check in to check out, which means rooms are only cleaned between guests. But when there is a problem (our door handle came off!) a text to management gets someone to your room to fix things pretty quickly. We stayed on the 3rd floor which meant a hike up the stairs but stunning views from wall to wall windows. Other rooms have easy access to multiple porches and Adirondack chairs. Very easy walk to shops and restaurants and so close to the water we didn’t even set ourselves up on the beach; when we felt like a dip we grabbed a towel, walked down, swam, and went up our room to relax! They’re still getting some things set up but we’d definitely stay there again.
