My daughter and I enjoyed our stay at The Emerson Inn. The king room with ocean view was just what we wanted. We could listen and see the ocean waves upon waking and falling asleep . The Inn is beautifully decorated and was recently redone. It is staffed by a lovely group of dedicated people. Bill was our favorite bartender and made us fabulous cocktails in the parlor. We enjoyed delicious breakfasts served by a wonderful server, Kamron. We would recommend this inn. There was no daily room care but if you requested towels or such, they would bring it.

Lovely old inn right near the ocean. Great breakfast served on the porch outside with ocean views. Very helpful staff. Quiet and relaxing being outside of Rockport itself but within a short drive of the town.

Very old New England inn overlooking the ocean, with small but cozy and comfortable rooms. Great breakfast served on the porch. Quiet neighborhood location. On site parking. Contrary to Trip Advisor, this inn does accept pets for a fee. No elevator but staff will assist with luggage. Very nice for older couples.

A couple weeks ago, my husband and I took a mini vacation to Rockport MA. After checking various options for lodging we opted for The Emerson Inn. We were not disappointed. The Emerson is a charming inn situated overlooking the ocean. Our room although quite small (We knew this ahead of time) was perfect. The room was both comfortable and impeccably clean. The nice robes were an extra bonus to us. We asked for a refrigerator and it was delivered to our room without delay. Breakfast was superb. They had a variety of options, and every day a couple of different specials. Kameron and Mina did an exceptional job. Both are personable and skilled at their job. In the morning I got up at 5:15 and walked down to the foot path that winds around the ocean. Sun rise was spectacular and easy walk from the inn. The thing that really impressed me with this inn, was the guests. The porch was so inviting with a cocktail from their bar. The guests we encountered were the friendliest people. Felt like we were with friends. We will totally recommend the Emerson Inn to family and friends. If we return to this area we will definitely stay again.

Outstanding customer service! Kimberly has assembled a team of staff that show their enthusiasm with every interaction. Thanks Crystal, Lynn, Janice, Kimberly and everyone else. Piano night was fun, socializing by the salt water pool with other guests and rocking on the porch. Sorry our stay was so short, but we received great value for our visit.

The Emerson Inn is a marvelous, elegant old hotel, beautifully maintained, and yet very casual in feel. It is situated right on the water, in a residential neighborhood on Rockport's granite coast, within strolling distance of the village -- charming and filled with artists' shops -- beaches, and Halibut State Park with its trails, old quarries, walkable ledges, and views of Maine. It is also a stone's throw from the Atlantic Path, at first a beaten track with views of the water and then a quite easy walk on the ledges for a mile or so. And since we like old houses, it was fun to saunter in the neighborhood. A full breakfast on the high-columned veranda; relaxation on Adirondack chairs dotting the broad lawn that runs down to the rocks, or on rocking chairs on the long porch facing the sea; friendly, efficient management and staff; exquisitely clean rooms; brilliantly starry nights (Jupiter, Saturn, the Pleiades, the Milky Way, et al., courtesy of sky over ocean); and quiet -- as well as proximity to all the cultural, architectural, and outdoors attractions of the entire north shore -- the Emerson Inn is a gem of a place. When we were there, our fellow guests ranged from both older and younger couples to a family with two kids and a little dog. It felt like home.

Stayed for the weekend in August. Our stay was everything we could have hoped for. We had a queen balcony room - although you had to climb a lot of stairs to get there, it was totally worth it! The views from the room were amazing (if you can wakeup for the sunrise it is beautiful). Unlike most hotels, the windows and slider actually opened. On the cool nights we were able to keep the window open and listen to the peaceful sounds. Other reviews had mentioned staff and slow breakfast service. We didn't experience that at all! The breakfast views were amazing, the food choices were delicious and the service was great and FAST! The pool was beautiful and relaxing. Everything at the hotel was incredibly clean, fresh and the staff was very kind. We loved the history and charm of the Inn. It was a nice easy hike to Halibut Point, or drive if you would prefer and also close to downtown Rockport or Gloucester. A perfect relaxing, quaint getaway. Would recommend!!!!

We loved the Emerson Inn by the Sea. It was a charming inn with a beautiful view and a lovely pool overlooking the ocean. The staff was wonderful, friendly, caring and so helpful with their suggestions for attractions and restaurants. We loved our peaceful evenings and mornings sitting in the rocking chairs on the porch listening to the ocean and smelling the sea air. We had a very relaxing, beautiful few days. We will be back again!

Unfortunately, we were disappointed in our room at the Emerson Inn. Our room was located on the 2nd floor and as soon as we headed down the corridor, we could smell the mustiness. When we entered the room the air conditioning was sent to 68 degrees - it was literally freezing in there. We adjusted the temperature to our comfort level however, the unit's dehumidifier did not appear to be working. When we retired for the evening, the sheets were wet. We spent most of the following day out of our room and upon our return in the late afternoon, we were surprised that our bed was not made nor were the towels replaced. Apparently, this is done upon request. There is no mention of this in the room or on the website (that I could find). The breakfast was good and the wait staff engaging.
