Staying at Tourists was a first class, retro motor hotel experience. The room was beautiful and practical, with lots of natural wood, quality bedding and a walk-in tiled shower. The in-room radio is set to Tourists’ own radio station. Apple TV made mirroring streamed content to the TV easy. Outside, the well-maintained grounds include a swimming pool, suspension bridge across the Hoosic River and lots of walking trails. The staff we encountered were all friendly and helpful. The restaurant was closed during our stay, but the morning room service pastries and coffee were excellent and on time.

This is literally a roadside "motel" transformed into a modern and rustic spot. The front faces a relatively busy road and the back abuts a tranquil and woodsy view with a rushing river providing a lovely soundscape. The rooms are sparkling and simple (could use better lighting for reading in bed) with charming minimal decor. We were here in late March, so the weather was chilly and gray, but I imagine in the warmer months the place is bursting with beautiful landscaping. Food is simple and delicious and the "room service" breakfast is delivered with a camp vibe that is really charming. Very dog friendly; next time we will bring our pooch!

We had a really great time at Tourists - so good that we decided to get married there next year!
The hotel is gorgeous and really well staffed (there’s people everywhere guiding you around). The restaurant The Airport Rooms is delicious and we had a great time hanging out in the lounge. The pool wasn’t open yet sadly… Room service is a fun way to take in the beautiful morning.
If I have one piece of constructive criticism it’s that they should put in a sauna or soaking tub. It would be very much on theme and felt missing.
10/10 can’t wait to stay again

Tourists has a very sleek, minimalist approach to their property design. While there is no one staying above or below you because it’s a one-level property, that doesn’t mean the rooms are quiet. There are virtually no soft surfaces except the bed linens to absorb sound, which in this property travels horizontally. So heavy walkers in an adjacent room sound as if they’re walking above you. There is one bedside light that can be awkwardly reached from the bed to turn off. If a second person also wants to read in bed, the overhead lights will need to be used, which means getting up to go to the wall switch to turn off. Room service applies to breakfast only, which is very expensive. I went elsewhere. Also, lounge chairs at the pool must be reserved in advance for up to a 2-hour maximum. So you have to plan when you want to use the pool. Compared with other places I’ve stayed, I don’t think the value is there fir the $$ spent on the room rate.

Hi charlottemK720BV - thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts. I'm very sorry to hear that your experience was less than fabulous during your stay at TOURISTS. Regarding the pool, we do intend to keep lounger reservations active through summer for everyone’s safety, however all guests are able to go down to the pool and swim whenever the pool is open - apologies if this wasn't clearly communicated to you. If you do choose to visit us again, we'd be happy to reserve you one of our quietest rooms, as well as show you other light and noise dampening options at the front desk and in your room - including some lovely lanterns that are perfect as reading lights. Please feel free to reach out to me directly - j.fredericks@touristswelcome.com - if you have any questions or if you would like to join us again in the future.

3 day stay for wedding and vacation. Liked what the architect did with the minimalist design of, bringing the natural beauty into the interior, with generous windows, use of natural material, and design. However, "form follows function" and function would have been better served if it would have include comfortable chairs rather then stools and very low chairs, inside and on the deck that are almost impossible to rise from for a senior, better lighting in the bathroom mirror area, a telephone to contact the office in case of questions or, heaven forbid, an emergency, and a box of Kleenex. Another long door mirror outside of bathroom door for dressing when bathroom is steamed and in use. NO HANDRAILS in the special events area stairs with access to the lower lawn areas. Very dangerous especially at night. Room service and breakfast menu was good.

Thank you for taking the time to write bobbase95. We are always so appreciative of feedback - especially when it pertains to guest comfort and safety. We do have many items available upon request that we're happy to deliver to rooms, like standard chairs and some additional lighting. I'm so sorry that you didn't have what you needed! Supply chain issues this summer held up our tissues, but we have them back and in every room! I'm happy to connect with our design and maintenance team regarding additional safety features and lighting for some of our event areas - thank you so much for sharing. Please feel free to reach out to me directly with any additional feedback - j.fredericks@touristswelcome.com

We really enjoyed our stay. This was more than I wanted to spend but splurged since we needed a place that accommodated our dogs and I could enjoy the day onsite by myself while my husband would have the car out all day. The dogs and I enjoyed the many trails there (there’s a nice river behind the property dogs could cool off in). And a very helpful map and guidebook was provided for the grounds and surrounding area. Also the pool was lovely but I didn’t know you needed to reserve a lounge-but that worked itself out. The staff was amazing—very attentive and the system they used of texting requests was so convenient. We had breakfast and snacks on-site which was convenient. It’s also across the street from a pretty decent restaurant (Trail House) and also large grocery store and a nail salon. The design was gorgeous kind of modern meets rustic.

Stayed at Tourists three times over the past year. Once in canopy room (nice), once in ramble room (nicer), and once in the Stanford Suite (even nicer). As the hotel adapted to the pandemic, things get better and better. Most recently, they had fabulous dinner and creative cocktails available via room service — a very nice touch for folks who want to enjoy socially-distanced gourmet food/drinks. The room are spacious — and the Stanford Suite is particularly nice. Great place to visit for a getaway while checking-out MassMOCA and Williamstown. High-speed internet works well so you can also work well from here.

Thank you so much for your review, IEM10011. I love that you've stayed in different room styles during each stay - variety truly is the spice of life! Our in-room supper was a huge hit while the restaurant was closed and we're working on updating The Airport Rooms menus regularly with the changing of the seasons - incorporating local farms and vendors. I hope you're able to make a trip up to see us again soon - feel free to reach out to me directly and I'd be happy to help you book! Cheers, Jillian <j.fredericks@touristswelcome.com>

We stayed here with our dog for a long weekend. The property was incredibly dog friendly, and backs up onto hiking trails. Parking was easy and free. The room design is very thoughtful—it’s minimalist but suits the landscape and our room was spacious. Room service was prompt and the food was very good. Staff was relatively hands off but we would happily return.

Tourists is one of my favorite hotels to visit, I’ve been twice- once in the winter and once in the spring. North Adams is a cute town, but Tourists and Airplane Rooms certainly makes the town a destination. Everything in the hotel is perfectly curated from the lobby to the bath amenities, and my favorite, the mini bar items. The text concierge is great, as is room service. It’s truly so easy to unwind during a weekend here with the board games in the lobby to the perfectly curated playlist. We love heading over to airport rooms for a dinner or a post dinner drink. I wish they would bring back the 2-night min and the prices were a tad lower, but other that than it’s great.

Thank you for coming back time and time again, k8tep! The Lodge in the winter - with a roaring fire, board games on tap, and a hot spiked cider - is definitely my happy place. We do have 2-night stays (as well as 1-night stays) available in the winter and during the week in the summer! Feel free to reach out to us directly and we'd be happy to find some dates for you.

I accidentally made my reservation for the wrong night (the night before I needed the room). When I checked in they informed me that my reservation was for the previous night and they were booked. I accepted that it was my mistake but was hoping they'd make suggestions on other hotels and/or give me a refund. I had made the reservation the morning of the stay so it was not a look standing one. The man at check in was so condescending and unhelpful. He barely acknowledged me and clearly wanted me to go away. I've never had an experience where someone was so insensitive. There was no one waiting after me who he needed to help. I genuinely understood that I made a mistake but to be charged over $400 and not have the hotel give me even 3 minutes felt very insulting.

It was so great to chat with you last week @katywP6381KM regarding your experience at TOURISTS. I'm truly sorry we weren't able to host you. As I mentioned, even though we were in the midst of a wedding on the night you arrived, this is certainly not the feeling we endeavor to create at the hotel, and we wish we were able to provide you with better guidance about alternate accommodations in the area. I'm glad we were able to speak and I hope you can find a time to come and visit us in the future! Feel free to reach out to me directly so I can ensure your stay is flawless: j.fredericks@touristswelcome.com
