I visited with my octogenarian parents, staying in one of the two bedroom suites. While we did not get to use the pool, exercise room, or fire pit, we did enjoy our breakfast which comes with most excellent Bola granola and a good variety of other self-serve items.

Unless you are a person that money is no object, skip the Porches and stay at the Holiday Inn or one of the other far less expensive places in the area. While the outside of the property has been beautifully restored, the rooms, while large, are nothing to brag about. The "porch" we paid extra for was not inviting and...

The Porches Inn at North Adams is a fantastic fine. My daughter was running in a state race and I had to drive out to Williamsburg from the Boston area. I was trying to book one night on short notice. There were many small motels that were available but with a rating of 1 or 2 and negative comments. I...

Beautifully restored/renovated facilities, beautiful grounds, fun decorations, friendly staff, a regal resident calico who won't bother you if you don't bother her, comfy beds and beautiful, functional bath facilities. Extensive buffet continental breakfast included. Tea lovers will be happy here 24-7; coffee lovers DO try Tunnel City Coffee across the street.

From the historical nature of the Porches, to the proximity to MOCA, every detail has the feel that someone has paid attention and nurtured the Porches to be what it is. From the outside you'll question - what is this... But once you get inside you'll appreciate the experience. The rooms are very large and roomy. The details are exquisite....

Dear Dan D, You mention the Hoosic River. Be advised that our city has a plan to eliminate the old concrete flood chutes and restore the river to its natural state. The first phase of this project, which includes trails, parks and boating access, should be completed by 2020. So, you see, you can have it all! Thank you for...

We stayed at Porches to celebrate our wedding anniversary. This mom and dad needed a kid free night away to relax and we did! We enjoyed the hot tub, room, went to dinner at Gazie, drinks at Bright ideas, had the free breakfast the next morning, and visited mass Moca. 110% recommended!!!

Porches at Mass MoCA is simultaneously a step back in time and a step forward in technology. The wood frame buildings and decor are from the era when it was across the street from a large brick factory, long since silent, now the site of Mass MoCA. But the electronics and amenities are up to date--a great combination. The only...

Dear Ani7, Thank you for taking the time to review the Porches Inn. We're very pleased that you enjoyed our combination of retro and cutting edge. Another winning combination is the Impressionism at the Clark and the contemporary art at MASS MoCA. Degas, Renoir, Manet; LeWitt, Takenaga, Cave--you just can't beat it. Please come see us again soon. Best regards,...

I have been here twice and planning to come back every year. Wonderful service, great beds , hot tub, heated pool ( just a tad cool for me at 84 but still) delicious breakfasts and just a great vibe. I feel at home here with out a B&B social thing.

While we were staying at Porches, my daughter had a terrible stomach flu and Chris, who was working that night, could not have been more helpful. He came by about five or six times to help us, and even brought us directions to the ER because our cell service was not working. It was a horrible experience, but I never...

Dear providencegirl, Thank you for recognizing our staff. We do have great employees, including Chris--he's genuine, diligent, always upbeat. And did you know that he's also a part-time teacher at the vocational school here in North Adams? Other employees deserving of shout-outs are Madalin in our housekeeping department, Glenn in laundry, Stephanie at the front desk and Bob in maintenance....

Dear Guest, We're delighted that you enjoyed our outdoor amenities, namely the heated pool, hot tub and fire pit. You also mention our location--our most notable outdoor amenity, although we can't take credit for it, is the natural beauty of the Berkshires, in particular Mt. Greylock State Reservation, a 12,000-acre park which includes the highest peak in Massachusetts, a summit...

The inn’s 47 rooms and suites are fully wired, offering free WiFi, BluRay/DVD players and complimentary DVDs.
