Drove out from Boston for a wedding. Gedney farm is definitely very rural; I even saw a black bear cross the road on the drive out. The hotel is rustic, but it seems to be well taken care of, and the staff is very nice. Its not a cheap place, but no place in the area really is. All in...

A friendly couple who lived in the area suggested the main dining room for dinner at Gedney Farm and we really had no idea of what of expect. I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised by this "milking" farm repurposed into a beautiful location for staying or planning for a special event. We had fine food, friendly wait service, and...

By our calculation, a truly successful wedding pleases, among others, the following disparate (to put it mildly) constituencies: 1. The bridal couple 2. The bride's family (hardly monolithic) 3. The groom's family (even less so) 4. Friends of one generation (who love to dance) 5. Friends of an entirely different generation (who love to drink, etc.... then dance) 6. Friends,...

Second recent stay at The Farm. The conversion of these spaces into a hostelry must have been a monumental project. First time, we had a fireplace in our room. This time, we were upstairs in the barn. Bathroom had cool atrium ceiling looking up into the naturally lit barn roof eave spaces. Last time, we were offered cooked to order...

In early December 2013, Gedney opened a great restaurant/pub in the barn. Over the winter it is opened only on Friday, Saturday and Sundays. This pub is exactly what this area needed. The food is fantastic and varied. The setting is warm, cozy, welcoming and casual. They have apps, small plates and larger plates. Since its opening, we have been...

This past weekend we were married at gedney. From the moment we saw the space in the dead of winter we knew that it was where we wanted to get married. If you are looking for a rustic, intimate, and do it yourself venue this is perfect. Although the space is rustic and relaxed, it also felt very elegant. From...

I was a guest at a wedding at the lovely Gedney Farm this weekend. I did not stay overnight in the guest rooms. The property has two beautiful old remodeled barns on a few acres of pastures, a great setting for an au natural wedding with class. Both buildings are refurbished with great lighting, paint, hard wood floors, and refined...

Last weekend, we attended a wedding at Gedney Farm and Mepal Manor. The wedding was fabulous, no detail overlooked, but that was due to our hosts (the wedding couple) and the party planners, who put in such extraordinary efforts. After reading prior reviews, I even brought my own towels, although they weren't necessary. The towels were usable, although the bath...

We recently had our wedding at Gedney Farm and it exceeded our expectations. We were looking for a farm/barn/rustic wedding venue and searched all over Vermont before settling on GF. We loved the fields, the polished yet rustic look and the fact that we felt like we were in the middle of nowhere. The staff, especially john, are gracious, friendly...
