As other reviewers have stated, this really is a wonderful little place to stay. A refreshing change from the nearly ubiquitous Early American B&Bs that dot the landscape in New England, the Shirakaba Guest House is a wonderful relaxing place to spend an evening or two. My wife, daughter and I spent two nights in the Take No Ma suite...

A few weeks ago, and for the second time in less than a year, my wife and I spent a few days enjoying the tranquility and warm hospitality of the Berkshires Shirakaba Guest House and its wonderful owners/hosts, Louise and Sadao-san. We again enjoyed the accommodations, the sumptuous breakfasts, the decadent homemade ice creams on offer each night, and our...

We really enjoy having our guests return. We already know their favorite foods, how they take their tea or coffe and they already know they can expect as much attentiveness as they desire. We look forward to seeing you again!

We loved our stay at Shirakaba. We visited for our anniversary and have never felt so pampered. Louise and Sadao catered to our every need. Here are just a few of many examples. Even before we arrived, we were asked a number questions so that our visit would be perfect. Thus, properly fitted slippers and kimonos, and a plate of...

We booked this location to celebrate a major birthday and it exceeded expectations in all ways. We essentially traveled to Japan without the expensive air fares. The setting both indoor and outdoor is wonderfully peaceful, and we enjoyed a truly delightful Japanese dinner tailored to our favorite foods. Each plate is a delightful combination of engineering precision and tasteful artistry...

We really enjoy helping our guests celebrate special events. Your suite will be decorated in the colors chosen by you and we can help celebrate any event you choose: weddings, honeymoons, babymoon, anniversary, birthday, graduation, new job. We have also been a place to relax if/when you are moving and have a few days when you need to wait for...

I have been to Japan five times and always wanted to go to Shirakaba. I love Tatami mats and the quiet of the Japanese traditional setting. I have in recent years become a Japanophile. So I kept thinking of going to Shirakaba and it was wonderful. The tradition in Japan of meeting your every need, and generosity is more than...

We really enjoy helping guest celebrate special occassions! I am so glad you enjoyed your bithday stay here We do find that having adults only when just a couple has made a booking works out best. Shirakaba, having 20 acres of privacy, is a relaxing and serene place to just unwind and rejuvenate. I am happy you enjoyed your personalized...

Shirakaba Guest House sits on a ridge looking out to the mountainous hills of the Berkshires, far from the tumult of New York and the cares of Boston, but within a reasonable drive of each. Modeled after a Japanese ryokan, it offers a serene environment, nights on beds that are gifts to the sleep deprived, a tatami room of your...

We really enjoy making each guests stay customized to them. With only two suites, we can easily accomplish this. We will have communication before your stay to make sure we can provide as many of your requests as possible. And as this guest mentioned we do our best to either anticipate your need before you even think of it or...

Just came back from a great weekend away celebrating my friend's 30th birthday. I loved it! We had a unique trip filled with beautiful surroundings, inside-in-ground pool, sauna, Jacuzzi, various treats the hosts made us, excellent bed (the sheets are magical), high-tech toilet (with a seat warmer?!), phenomenal breakfasts eaten in syle in our Kimonos... I came home super rejuvenated...

We were welcomed like long lost friends and given yukata and slippers to wear. Since Louise knew we were interested, she showed us their beautiful and fascinating Japanese treasures while she was showing us the amenities. They also welcomed our guests with yukata and slippers, offering with them access to the hot tub, pool and sauna. There were all sorts...

It was so wonderful getting to meet your family. We really love to help locals enjoy a Berkshire getaway to Japan without leaving the Berkshires. I am glad you enjoyed Sadao's miso soup. It is one of our most popular treats here and no dinner event requires, just choose Japanese for the second course for your included breakfast.
