We have stayed at the Briarcliff several times and most recently hosted our family for our daughter's graduation from Simon's Rock. We occupied 10 rooms.I highly recommend the Briarcliff! I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. Richard, Clare, and the rest of the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. They offered me many great recommendations as I was preparing for...

We were looking to have a short overnight getaway from home and The Briarcliff fit the bill. The remodeled motel has quite good size rooms although the bath is a bit small but you would expect as such in a motel. Richard showed us to our room and went through the particulars, gave us the key. The off season has...

Lovely location. A terrific breakfast- especially the homemade scones. Hospitable hosts- my high school friend and I met here (half way between us) for a reunion and enjoyed a comfy corner of the lobby looking out on the hillside, where we could continue drinking coffee and catching up past check-out time. It was perfect.

Convenient quiet location easy to find. Very clean comfortable, attractive rooms. Hands down the absolute best breakfast you will find anywhere. Anytime we are in the area the Briarcliff will be our choice of places to stay.

The Briarcliff is a nice motel tucked away in the Berkshires. It clearly used to be a funky old motel but they have changed out the furniture/decorations so that it is modern and classy. The bed was comfy and the breakfast was amazing! Homemade scones, granola, eggs and very good yoghurt. The owners were very friendly.

My wife and I have been coming to the Briarcliff Motel for 5 years. Every time we visit it feels like coming home. Not only do we love the rooms and the views (and the granola), but what keeps us coming back the most is the warm, helpful service from the staff. The night manager was very accommodating when we...

I intend this to be an honest review, the kind I wish I had read before I traveled! I stayed at the Briarcliff in the off-season for just one night. My partner and I wanted to get out of the city and enjoy the quiet, and I just fell in love with the place from the website. I wanted to...

Hello rachel(rachelrachel), and thanks for the review. It's always nice when people tell us we're fabulous in every respect, but honesty is also OK with us. We try to run our business in an honest and human way, and in that spirit I thought I'd just respond to a couple of points. Firstly, and at the risk of sounding like...

We visit the area often and continue to enjoy the mix of old-school Berkshire roadside lodging and modernist touches with which the moteliers have imbued the Briarcliff. Even on a one-night stopover, it's a pleasure to have a clean, comfortable room and bed, and to be able to pop a bottle of something in the room fridge for later. The...

A bit disappointed based on the website. The beds were not comfortable and there were photos and cards with push pins on the wall for decoration. The breakfast scones were stale and the "fruit" was bananas and apples. The water from the shower flies out all over the floor because there is only a half glass wall. There is no...

After six years of doing this I'm a little thicker-skinned than I used to be, but I take extreme issue with the suggestion that our scones are ever stale. The reason I take issue with it is that I happen to know that I get up at 6am every morning to bake them. It would have been nice to get...

The Briarcliffe Motel, is indeed just as it says on the box, a motel! But what does that mean to a Brit. on the road? Well you can drive right up to your room door, is that all? I suppose no stairs ! There is a central common area for check in and out and Breakfast, plus general lounging around...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
New English owners Clare & Richard Proctor have turned this classic 1960 motor lodge, with its spectacular view of Monument Mountain, into a cool 21st century b&b. We offer great value, clean comfortable rooms with a stylish edge, free wifi, a home-made breakfast of scones, muffins and granola with locally-roasted coffee, and a warm welcome. Chill out on the deck in summer, or by the stove in our guest lounge in winter. We are five minutes from Great Barrington and Stockbridge, and under 15 from Tanglewood. ... more   less
