This is the second year in a row that my sister and I have spent a relaxing three day weekend in late Spring at the Colonial Inn in Gloucester. Our host was Owner/Inn Keeper Mike Schmidt, who is a great raconteur and has good recommendations of places to go and things to do on Cape Ann. The inn is comfortable,...

We arrived around 8:45pm and Tom, the innkeeper, left over keys out for us. In the morning, he told us places to go to eat and hang out. The room was "roomy" and was great for 2 adults and 2 kids. Will definitely stay here again if in Glouchester.

I booked this B&B as part of a trip to New England and from the photographs on the web it looked ok. The actual building, from the outside, was ok! It looked really nice and it was conveniently located. Eating breakfast outside on the veranda was great but inside it was a bit run down. It wasn't dirty or falling...

Tom and his brother Mike run a gorgeous inn. I was grateful for room 7, huge, sea view, super clean and nicely decorated. 5 min walk to Stony Neck artists colony and Niles beach! The porch is a delight. I appreciated the (strong) coffee and continental breakfast. Only wish they had more nights for me to stay! Reasonably priced, too....

Years ago this was probably a gem in Gloucester. However, little has been done to update the facilities for quite some time. Little things like kleenex, shampoo, and hair dryers would certainly make the visit more enjoyable. Even a coffee pot in the room would have been appreciated since there was nothing else for us to eat.

This holiday we deliberately chose B and B's to stay in, this one was the most expensive of all the ones we stayed in and the worst. We arrived during the allotted time but there was no one to greet us, we found an envelope with our names on it on a table. The room was clean but basic, the...

Our family just stayed at the Colonial Inn in Gloucester and we really enjoyed our time there. This Inn is so charming, has lots of character , is located in a beautiful setting, and is run by a gracious family. Mike and Tommy are so accommodating and will make you feel right at home from the moment you arrive. This...

Found it by good fortune. Spoke with Tom and after a couple of minutes of conversation I felt like we'd known each other for years. Everything about the house is authentic B&B and Tom goes out of his way to make you feel like while you're there it's as much yours as it is his. Have never slept on a...

The staff at the Colonial Inn were very friendly and accommodating to all our requests and even gave us a discount due to a leaky toilet. They gave us tips on dining and sightseeing, which were quite good. While the view was lovely from the porch, the rooms were average, yet comfortable overall. If you are looking for an upscale...

The Colonial Inn is the perfect casual B&B for your seaside retreat offering clean attractive rooms, comfortable beds, plenty of towels, mini-fridge, wifi and coffee, toast, muffins and yogurt to begin your day. Innkeepers; Barbara, Tom and Mike are great …always unfailingly gracious and friendly. We have been visiting the Colonial for many years and it is like visiting family....
