The young girl at the desk is extremely rude, disrespectful and sassy. The entire property is run down and in desperate need of professional maintenance. The mattresses are filthy. The windows have paint on the glass. Door frames are broken. The shower in our room was broken. There was black mold around the tub snd on the rubber mat in the tub. Towel bars and toilet paper holders were falling out of the wall. There was hair in the comforter. Rust in the bathroom sink and the drain was clogged. The dead bolt didn’t work. The fridge was missing a foot so it wobbled. The tv volume was broken for remote use. The WiFi didn’t work. You couldn’t take a shower. When I informed the front desk the sassy brat at the desk told me I got what I paid for. I was a guest of the person who rented this room. That person needs a full refund and the board of health needs to shut that place down.…
I spend 2 nights there in August 2021. Room is average. It was clean, but outdated, needed repair. No maintenance work was being done or seen on the property. I also had trouble with internet connection and the tv connection also. It appears the ownership is renting rooms, but not taking care of the property. Simply outdated and in need of repair. The choices are limited during the summer months, so I had to stay here. I would not return or recommend the capt. lodge. Plan ahead make a reservation months in advance.
This motel has nice rooms for the price, clean but not fancy. The hotel is a short ride to Salem and within walking distance of rockport and the beach. This is the second time I have stayed here and will definitely be back. Update flash foreword to 2020, we have been here every year since about 4 more times and usually bring friends, booking 2-3 rooms each time. This time it was during covid and things got weird. No housekeeping so you need to request toiletries. The toilet paper is the cheap kind that runs out fast and upon arriving we noticed there was only a partial roll on the hook with no backup. We sent our adult son the ask for 2 rolls considering we where booked for 3 nights and figured we would definitely use them. He was told only one at a time. The next day we ran out and he went for another and received it. Our friends who booked the other room this trip had another experience. When they ran out and asked for another roll they where told to be considerate of others and something about Not enough toilet paper to go around. They ended up buying toilet paper at the store. Now my family is out of soap and toilet paper and to timid to ask for more. After coming to this hotel every year for 6 years I think this may be our last visit.…
Very expensive for what you get and what you get is a semi cleaned room, soda bottle caps on the floor next to the beds, internet that simply does not connect or when it does connect, it drops after 30 seconds..... just not usable. Parking area was pitch dark with one small light over the room door. Definitely will not be returning to stay with the Captain.... at least not with this captain.
We were very pleasantly surprised with our room at this motel. It was large and very clean. The lady at front desk (owner?) was very nice and accommodating. I was disappointed with the Wi-Fi service, as it wasn’t strong enough to really use on our phones or iPad. I ended up using my daughter’s hot spot on her phone for connection, so all was well. The only other problem was that the circuit popped off when we were using our hairdryer at the same time in neighboring rooms. Other outlets still worked , just not the ones by the sink. Overall, it was a great experience and we would stay there again. It met our top criteria: roomy and clean!
I will start by saying front desk staff was friendly and helpful with questions. However . . . I’m used to shopping for bargain locations and my expectations are not high. All I ask for my money is a clean, safe room with the advertised amenities. This place struck out on all three. Dirty (see pics), unsafe (see pics), lacking advertised amenities, specifically wi-fi (see pics). The entrance to the room off the parking lot was downright scary at night. Wish I’d spent $25 more and stayed elsewhere. We did ask for help with the wi-Fi but it didn’t work regardless. We did not bother discussing anything further with motel staff. Just dropped the key and left as quickly as possible in the morning.
We were on a road trip staying in motels from Boston to Cape Ann to Cape Cod. This was by far the worst and the most expensive. Torn sheets and hairs in the beds. Our door had obviously at some time been forced open, or broken in to, not secure at all. Rooms old fashioned and in desperate need of updating. We couldn't wait to leave.
I love this lodge and have been coming here each summer for the past 15 years. It's centrally located between downtown Gloucester and Rockport with easy access to Rte 128, whale watching and shore front restaurants. The manager Komal is very friendly and always helpful. She has been improving the site each year with comfortable rooms, flat-screen TVs and a nice pool. Plus, the price is right!
A disappointing stay. The room was very hot! The air was off when we checked in and after turning it on, never really cooled to a comfortable temperature. The room needs updating everything was outdated. The windows were filthy.
My husband, myself, and our 6 year old son stayed here overnight on July 27th. I was quite apprehensive after reading the reviews. We stayed in room 154. The back door lead right to the pool. The outside of this motel is not appealing at all, but our room was just fine. We needed more towels and called the front desk and they were delivered within 5 minutes. The room is your standard hotel looking room. The water in the shower was so powerful, but it was great after a day at the beach. My husband and son used the pool and said it was good. The water was nice and clean. The room has a small fridge, a microwave, and a flat screen tv. I didn’t see a hair dryer, but I didn’t need one so it wasn’t a big deal. Overall, the room served our purpose as a place to sleep. The beds were comfortable and the sheets were clean. We didn’t have any complaints. No, it’s not the Marriott, but we didn’t have any complaints and would recommend it for a night or 2. It’s 10 minutes from Rockport and close to shops and places to eat.…
