Great staff, location is convenient, pool would have been nice if open . pet friendly is a plus. Rates are manageable. New owners def have made improvements that should of been long time ago. pppppppppppppppp
From the minute we pulled into the parking lot, we were concerned. And it wasn't any better inside. The hallways and elevators smelled like urine, hallways not vacuumed. The room itself was dingy. Dirt in corners of floors, one towel for 3 people, bathroom sink backing up. And a smoke detector with NO Batteries in it. Motel 6 should be ashamed.
DO NOT STAY HERE. Don't read other reviews and think....eh maybe it's not that bad. It is that bad! It smells like stale cigarettes and pee. The rooms weren't cleaned. There was dust and hair all over the floors. The bathrooms smelled and we're covered with dust. So not only are they not cleaned. But they are definitely not covid cleaned. I'm not kidding..it was so bad I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep because the smell.was so awful.
We booked this hotel because almost everything was sold out for Halloween. We initially asked for a handicapped access room with a king bed but they only had handicapped access with two doubles so we opted for the king bed and wished we wouldn’t because the toilet was so low to the ground my husband couldn’t use it. That was on us, so I won’t hold that against the property but the staff was not friendly like I’m used to... but other than the toilet the room was ok... we ended up driving up to Maine and came back to Salem the night before our flight left and figured we’d just stay there again because we knew where it was and we aren’t from that area of the country and it was closer to the airport. Our second stay on our trip was much different.. we did ask for the handicapped access room with two beds and it was a much worse looking room. The shower looked so disgusting like you needed a shower after the shower and you better wear water shoes in the shower... there were cockroaches in the bathroom that I wish I would have taken pictures of, the refrigerator leaked water all over the floor so we had to sop up water with the towels. The hotel just has a feel like people live there long term. Not sure if it’s a smoking hotel but there were signs saying no smoking yet I was asked if I wanted a smoking or non smoking room and both our rooms smelled like cigarettes so I don’t know how they roll. I spent years as a travel manager and have stayed at many very nice Motel 6s but this was not one of them. Such a shame... …
My husband booked this room in July. The rooms have been updated if you call tiny floating shelves an update. There are no drawers so there is no privacy. The king size bed was real comfortable. When we arrived our room was funky. It looks like it wants to modern on a tiny budget. There is an indoor pool which no one could access. The vending machine would not take cash or card. The elevators were out of order. We have already decided when we visit Salem again to book another hotel. I do give the house keeping staff and good review.
