We chose summersweet based on location, availability, and last minutes we were lucky they had availability. The hosts, Don and Gail, were warm, welcoming, and incredibly accommodating. Don gave us significant advice regarding transportation, restaurants, and various activities on the vineyard. The B&B is very intimate, and located on a quiet and central part of north road. The highlight of... More

Let me first start by saying that Don and Gail are two of the most incredible people you will ever encounter. My husband used to live in Martha's Vineyard so we knew that we wanted to stay away from the chaos of all the town centers. We arrived on September 6th and were greeted by our lovely host Gail and... My husband and I have been coming to the Vineyard for almost 30 years, and have always rented a house for at least two weeks. This year, due to other travels, we decided to skip the Vineyard. As August drew closer we began to pine for the Ocean and our familiar Vineyard jaunts. After searching the web we decided to... More

The best B&B we've ever stayed at, and we've been to a lot. Don and Gail were wonderful hosts, and breakfast is hardly an adequate description for the beautifully prepared fresh fruit, and incredibly appetizing breakfast entries, including egg scramble, banana blueberry pancakes and french toast. My mouth is watering just thinking about them! The other great feature is that... More

My wife and I have been coming to the Vineyard over the course of four decades. Our preference has always to stay at the more rural end of the island. However, this was our first time to stay at this bed and breakfast. We certainly were not disappointed! The owners of this cozy bed and breakfast, Don and Gail, were... More

Our family of 6 had a chance to taste the islands relaxed athmosphere while enjoying the warming hospitality of Gail and Don. Every morning a healthy and tasty breakfast as a good start for a day of discoveries and beach fun, and always home made cookies waiting for us at the end of the day. Their beautiful home, secluded in... More

We have had in August a wonderful stay in Summersweet BB. The house is charming and the place so quiet in the woods of Chilmark. But also close from everywhere, Menemsha, Oak bluffs, Edgartown, airport and so. Very comfortable and fantastic breakfast or cookies and lemonade in the afternoon. The hosts Gail and Don are very kind giving nice advices and... More

After a second stay at the Summersweet, I can most strongly recommend it especially for those who like the quiet end of Martha's Vineyard. It is within easy driving or biking distance to some of the most beautiful and remote beaches on the Island and not far from the beloved Lucy Beach and other natural and aesthetic attractions. The hosts,... More

It was a pleasure to stay with Gail and Don, in their very relaxing, quintessentially Chilmark-ian, home. Their B&B caters to only two sets of guests at a time, so their attention to guests' needs can be reasonably focused. The breakfasts (we stayed for a weekend) were exceptional -- beautifully presented (in fact, memorably so) and delicious. Our loft space... More

This is a very special place to stay. Our hosts, Gail and Don, were personable and accomodating. Our room was large and sunny with a very comfortable bed and the softest linens. It had a private bath with shower. Passes were provided for two of the most beautiful private beaches on the island...Lucy Vincent and Squibnocket. Restaurant recommendations were great.... More
