We had an amazing dinner, the feature that evening was a corn crusted Rainbow Trout which was delicious. My wife ordered Filet Mignon which was also amazing. It melted in you mouth. I had to try a piece, temptation got the best of me. We would also like to thank our server Curtis for being one of the best servers...

We quite enjoyed our brief stay at SRL, most especially the great hiking trails winding around beautiful trees and mossy paths. It was an excellent spot to vacation with our dog, who was treated to a canine dinner menu and a yummy cheddar biscuit at breakfast. It was a nice get-away for us humans too, but I think it bills...

Hello Ltc1002, We really appreciate you taking the time to write such a detailed and thoughtful review! Attention to detail and the little touches are always something we strive for. From your comments, we're looking at including robes in all units and not just the yurts and premier cabins like we presently do. Sorry about the confusion with the water...

Savage River Lodge was one of our favorite get a ways! My husband and I stayed in a cabin with our dog. Our cabin faced the woods so we had a lot of privacy and we were able to let the dog out off-leash to do his business. The cabin was stocked with board games and a deck of cards....

The location is great, beautiful views and good place for hiking. However, we think the staying the night was very expensive. The premier cabin is beautiful, but it is missing a kitchenette and art on the walls. Also, breakfast was underwhelming: two cold muffins and two very small jars of juice for two adults. We were still hungry after we...

We have been coming to Savage River Lodge for many years. Originally we brought our two dogs with us and we all had a wonderful time hiking the miles and miles of trails. They were always delighted with the dog biscuits that came with our breakfast baskets each morning. The breakfast baskets are delivered just outside the door every morning...

The plan was some February cross country skiing. So much for a plan! No snow so it turned into hiking instead but we still really enjoyed our stay. The Yurts are beautiful, unusual, cozy, and a wonderful treat. The gas stove kept things warm and toasty, the muffin and juice baskets each morning were great ways to start each day,...

We stayed at SRL for 3 nights just before Xmas. The cabins were spacious and well appointed. The lodge was beautiful and welcoming and the view from the back porch gorgeous. The entire place is luxurious in a very understated manner. There are no TVs and no wifi, so kids better be ready to read a book or to be...

My husband and I discovered this little treasure several years ago. We love how SRL gets so much snow and 30 mins down the road there could be nothing. Everyone is super friendly. It's very relaxing and easy going. My husband travels a lot and this is "our" special place to go when it snows. Even though we haven't been...

Our weekend stay in Yurt #4 was cozy, warm and absolutely peaceful. We were surrounded by 360 degrees of beauty. SRL thought of every detail when they created the yurts. The heated floors were our favorite feature and if it wasn't for the incredibley comfortable and gigantic bed, I would have gladly slept on the bathroom floor; it felt that...

We have been coming to Savage River Lodge since 2004. This visit was our 20th vacation at Savage River Lodge. As usual, it was just a wonderful time. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Comfort - Privacy - Relaxation. We often hear these words when people talk about the Savage River Lodge. Nestled within more than 700 acres of Western Maryland's Savage River State Forest, the lodge is a peaceful retreat from a busy world. Once you're here, you'll find all the elements of relaxation and comfort--fantastic food, sink-into accommodations, your own private cabin, and exceptional hospitality. Whether you prefer to watch nature from your rocking chair or spend your day in pursuit of your favorite outdoor activity, you'll take home the spirit of the forest...and the Savage River Lodge. Our eighteen luxury cabins and the nearby lodge building, surrounded by the forest, convey a rustic, lived-in comfort. Our amenities and appointments, however are decidedly upscale and infused with a genuinely friendly and relaxed hospitality. ... more   less
