We visited Sattal Forest Resort in May. We were three of us. SFR is nestled in the mountains surrounded by lush green forest . The cottages are built in such a way that they offer comfort and a cozy place and at the same time they are nestled beautifully in the amidst the trees and birds! The view from our cottage was stunning. Well maintained Cottages and gardens, lovely small sit outs, amazing hospitality and food is yumm.. The staff is very proactive and efficient! Overall a beautiful stay and special thanks to Ushaji in making our stay comfortable! We shall visit soon with a larger group
Sattal forest resort is a hidden gem . It has breathtaking views, good customised food and amazing staff . Usha ji the owner of property is extremely caring, helpful and ever smiling . In fact loved the last few kms of off-road driving which made it a truly memorable experience. Would be back soon .
We visited sattal forest resort in a big family group in Dec 21. The beauty of the resort and sattal is spellbound. The resort is superclean with stupendous homely food and lots of amenities. The hosts took extra care for our stay including organising various activities. You can do bonfire, play various board games, badminton, pool table etc. You can go for trekking and it's must. You can find severel water streams on the treks. Boating and zip line at sattal lake is awesome experience. I will not recommend visit to nainital. Its very crowded and polluted and you will waste your time. Instead extend stay in sattal and leave all worries and world behind and unwind. We will be visiting again soon. Enjoy.
Nice place..bird watchers paradise.. beautiful flowers.. tasty food cooked with love.. special mention of tandoori nan..very warm, helpful and caring staff. Not to forget the loving, warm and cordial owners. Had an amazing time
The staff at Sattal Forest Resort were amongst the most responsive I have seen. The Resort itself is located quite intriguingly. It is a 20 minute walk up a hill from the Sattal lake. Given the height it is on, it has great views on all four sides, and offers walks around the resort for birding or nature enthusiasts. For those who don’t want to, or can’t, walk up the steep path from Sattal, the resort can send a jeep that can make its way up the steep kaccha road. However, if one wants to drive up the resort oneself in anything other than a jeep, one would need to take a long detour via Bhimtal, including the last few kilometres on not so comfortable terrain. We drove up. However, on one of our days of the stay, we walked down and up from Sattal. It should not be very difficult for people with reasonable fitness. There are many different rooms in the resort, including standalone cottages for large families. We were given choice of two kinds of rooms, and selected the ones in the main building just above the reception and dining area. The rooms were large, and the one on the extreme right had good views from the side window as well. There was a large shared balcony space outside the room. The furniture is a bit old, but was clean and comfortable. The heater and electric blankets worked well, and made the room cosy soon. The bathroom window overlooked a bush and pine trees beyond it, and added a touch of quaintness. Most of all though, what was special was how the staff anticipated our needs, and took initiative. On the day we came back from a long day of birding, our hiking shoes ended up dirtying the floor just inside our room, where we took them off. Even though it was evening around 7 pm, and the evening turndown service had already taken place, when the staff came to serve us coffee, they offered to clean it up immediately, and made the floor spotless again. On our first night, we had asked them to switch off the perimeter lights, as we wanted to watch the stars. The sky was stunning and because light pollution was limited, we could see many more constellations than in the plains. On our second night, they came to check with us on their own whether we would want the lights switched off again. A small thing, but an illustrative example. I have not seen such attention to detail in many fancier hotels. Lastly, the food was very good too. Would definitely recommend, though only if you don’t mind the bit of hike or a longish car ride to the lake. Or if you just want to while away time in a fantastic location.…
