Detailed Reviews
My family and I have stayed at the Atlantic now many times. Each year we go back because it is so centrally located at York Beach. You can walk out their front door and be right near the water and all the shops. Without question one of the best things about the AH is Dan the GM. Sweetest guy in the world who will do all that he can to make your stay a pleasant one. Any time we have asked him for something he was right on it. The rooms are nice and the staff is courteous and helpful. The one thing I have learned when booking a room during peak months is find a room that is not over or near the lounge on the second floor. It is loud, like some of the negative reviews say, but if you let Dan know, he can put you in a room that will be unaffected by the noise. That's what we do. All in all a great experience. Thank you Dan for your kindness.

The star of this place is GM Dan. From my first phone call to meeting him. He's an asset to the place. So personable. If you stay here, you get a great location. Walk out of the building, you are in the shops and so close to the beach. Of course, this can be a negative, as I did have a hard time sleeping as the beach groomers started super early. You are also above restaurants and a singer if he's performing, which are noisy. We had a Queen suite. It was super nice. Only complaint was the bed. My back hurt from it. I feel that needs to be upgraded.

I travel quite frequently and before I travel, I usually do check out the reviews on sites such as this because my my expectations and standards are high. My family has vacationed in York Maine for over 20 years and we are pretty familiar with the surroundings so I did not bother to check out the reviews for this place or the ownership- Rivers By The Sea. I also usually do not take the time to write a review until now but because of all of the negative publicity that this new ownership has had to endure from the corrupt previous owners- Rivers By The Sea, I felt compelled to do so. Please do not be fooled by the negative reviews or comments that a previous reviewer and others have had to say- these are all about the former Atlantic House that was owned and operated by Rivers By The Sea - which by the way is all accurate. During my time there I witnessed the staff receive many inquiries about gift certificates that were not honored and other problems they were having regarding the previous ownership. Cathy Chalue, the General Manager, and her staff were more than gracious to try and assist them to try and make things right and it is really to bad that they have received a negative review because they do not deserve this. If it were not for Cathy Chalue and Myles (a staff member) we would not have had a family vacation. My family can not begin to put into words how wonderful our stay was at the Atlantic House July 21-26 2013. They truly helped to make a really bad situation into a vacation for us. Our experience may seem surreal to those who read this review, but it is the honest truth. Not only were the rooms spacious and beautiful, the accommodations were immaculate. This is a place where the staff take pride in the services that they provide and they all make it a point to genuinely care about you as their guest. Cathy is an incredible compassionate human being and she has gone above and beyond anything that my family( all 12 of us) and I could have ever imagined. The staff -Myles and Morgan- who were there during our stay, are also delightful, caring young men that have wonderful moral character. If the goal of the team at the Atlantic House Inn is to strive to make each guest experience as close to perfect as humanly possible- you have accomplished this and far exceeded that goal. I am forever grateful for meeting these wonderful people and I would recommend anyone to stay here. I can guaranty that you will not be disappointed. I also wanted to note that Linda, Harold and Steve in the- My Winey Sister store(a wine specialty store that is located in the Atlantic House) are also wonderful caring people. Thank you to all of you and I know we will be seeing you all again soon.

WOW, Is the only one word to describe this place. During the recent heatwave my family of 5 ,and extended family and their children stayed here.Starting with the front desk staff,[ especially Catherine ] it was a whirlwind of delights. with easy access to the beach and Yorks other amenities it was fantastic for the adults and the children. with all that heat, the AC WAS MORE THAN ENOUGH to make a nice cool haven to retreat to when you weren't in the ocean. The in-house bakery with its fresh aromatic treats made it easy to get a loaf of out of the oven italian bread to make sandwiches for the beach during the day, then the new restaurant in the evening. the room was unique and spectacular, with an upstairs loft style bedroom it was a cinch to accommodate my teenage girls and their friends and cousins while maintaining my wife and i privacy. the value for what you get is beyond compare this is one place ill be returning to for years to come!!!!

Last month we took an extended weekend to go to one of our favorite vacation spots on the coast in Maine. We got a really great deal on a room and off we went. Come to find out there has been some recent management changes and it looks like they have opted for NO management! There were different faces throughout the stay at the front desk including at one point the housekeeper. We didn't see any other guests the entire weekend, freaky? The room although decorated nicely unfortunately was not as clean as it probably should have been for guests. The bathroom had black hair on the tub which you had to be a rock climber to get into and when asked about a step to get into the tub the response from the front desk was "that sounds like a good idea" we climbed in and out all weekend. Glasses on the sink had lipstick on them and not ours. There was no clear evidence that the room was detailed prior to our arrival. Pillows looked and felt like a cellulite thigh making for a bumpy sleep. We asked where we could find breakfast in the area at the front desk and the response was "I don't know I' m not from around here. "Turns out right across the street is a landmark restaurant and candy store with great service and food. We let the front desk in on their area secrets. The best part of the stay was Rossi's bakery located 30 feet from the front desk. If you are in the area stop into the bakery it's awesome and staff there is very friendly. Of note the front desk person when asked about the bakery said " I don't know how it is I haven't been in there". We had heard great things in the past about the inn and this is why we booked there. We don't know what happened to change the place but if this is what you call upscale I'll camp on the beach thank you. Staff needs to learn about their local offerings and get the housekeeper out from behind the desk and into the rooms.

Thank you for taking time to share your concerns about your stay this past May in our hotel. We are so sorry that you experienced frustrations and disappointments during the time you were our guest. While we'd like to think that every guest will experience perfection, we see from your comments that we have a ways to go as we move into the 2015 season. Yes, you are right - we do have a new temporary manager at the hotel who has taken over after an unexpected vacancy. Couple that with the challenges that small seasonal communities face in recruiting and you can see that a few things slipped through the proverbial cracks. We do believe that we have taken care of these details and we are back on track. We have a new manager coming in at the end of the month and our small staff is being coached on the property and local amenities. We'd like a chance to make it up to you down the road and hope that you will visit again in the near future. We sincerely apologize for our shortcomings during your visit.

We recently stayed (July 2013) at the Atlantic House in York, Maine. We would highly recommend this hotel. The people and accomodations were exceptional. Staff friendly, greeted us daily-asking about our needs. The accomodations were beautiful! We were able to park close by, walk literally across the street to the beach. Definitely convenient for so many things. Staff and hotel made our trip!

They advertise this inn saying "Relax in one of our beautifully appointed suites", so we thought perfect way to start our vacation away from stressful jobs. Little did we know that our room/ entire floor was directly above a Pub restaurant (which is not mentioned on their website) that played loud live music until 1 am! We were in a fog and cranky all the next day from lack of sleep- it ruined the next day of our vacation. The Manager Karen agreed take a percentage off our bill which still hasn't been done over three months after our stay and she doesn't repond to emails. I would not recommend staying here!

We will definitely be back for another stay! We needed a room for a mini family reunion. This was near where most of the family members were staying. As we could only go for one night this hotel was one of the few that could accommodate that request. Upon arriving very early in the day we didn't expect that our room would be ready. However, upon checking in we were not only able to check in, we were upgraded to a suite! The lady at the desk was sooo nice. She remembered my husband calling and making the reservation. She said he was so nice on the phone and that this room was available so she wanted us to have it. She even presented us with a little card. What a pleasant surprise. The room was very clean and inviting. It was equipped with heated floors in the bathroom as well as a fireplace that helped take the chill off on this cold rainy day. We would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting York Beach.
