We traveled to Maine over Labor Day weekend and renewed our acquaintance with the Squire Tarbox Inn where we had stayed about 25 years ago. Everything about the stay was great. Lara greeted us and showed us around. We spent time by the water enjoying the late afternoon sun. We had a pre-dinner drink on the porch watching the sunset...

My sister an I found the Squire Tarbox in on our first sister trip to Maine – what a treasure. Our first impression was that it was a bit far from town, which is true, but the atmosphere and excellent food was well worth it. When we arrived Lara, daughter of owners Ronni and Mario, escorted us to our rooms...

Our stay at this very special spot was one we'll never forget. We arrived in a downpour to a warm welcome; we left in the sunshine with just as warm a sendoff. In between, we slept in a wood-beamed room at the end of the house with a private deck overlooking the back flower garden. The first day, we took...

to visit this inn. We visited at the end of a two-week trip and, truthfully, were a bit road-weary and not looking forward to unpacking bags yet again. However, our evening was delightful. I loved the room and gardens and the food was memorable. The sorrel bisque is something that I hope to duplicate at home (substituting spinach). Lara and...

Drive 7 miles off the beaten track in rural Maine , onto Westport 'island' (actually a peninsula) and you will find the Squire Tarbox Inn situated on 10 pastoral acres. The Inn looks quintessential with all the New England features , adjacent barns , real free-range chickens , and the resident friendly dog. The Inn is a family affair with...

Loved this place and the history associated with it! Wonderful organic gardens on a 'drive to" island in Maine (Westport Island - by Wiscasset, ME). We loved it totally - the only negative is that it takes about 1/2 an hour to drive to Wiscasset - and there is nothing to do /no other restaurants on Westport Island... but, for...

Yes, we are off the beaten path. For some people this is a bonus, as it offers tranquility and peace away from the crazy crowds of tourists that can besiege Route 1. We love it our here, as the loudest noises are usually the bullfrogs and our rooster. I would like to correct the reviewers comment that it takes half...

We needed somewhere to stay while visiting family in Richmond, ME and luckily came across this inn. It is a lovely establishment with a kitchen to drive miles for. The property is perfectly renovated--beds are large, linens are dreamy, showers are forceful, and there are cookies available 24/7, as is wine, spirits, soda, and juice (on the honor system, which...

We arrived without a reservation and were immediately welcomed, given a perfect room and included in the evening's dinner. Nothing was too much trouble and we much enjoyed the friendliness of all our hosts - and the other guests. As Europeans, breakfast was a refreshingly healthy and delicious change from what we had been experiencing thus far in our journey...

We enjoyed a splendid dinner, with a fresh, tasty, beautifully designed salad, perfectly cooked duck with the crackling on the side and a light, silken orange sauce, and a creme brulee that was one of the best we've had. Our hosts were gracious and informative. The inn is charming--we didn't stay there but it looks comfortable. Handsome chickens and an...

We have been returning to the Squire Tarbox Inn for almost twenty years. What we like is the charm and simplicity of the rooms (quality bedding, albeit the bathrooms can be small, but it is an historic country inn), the spaciousness of the public rooms (among the largest of any B and B we’ve visited in New England), the friendliness...
