We chose the room with a king bed and sofa. The room was large, clean and quiet. Our favorite part was the deck overlooking the river. A great place for morning coffee and a wonderful place to end your day. When sitting out there, the hotel blocks any road noise from rt. 1. We also enjoyed the pool, which had cabanas for shade if you wanted. The staff was helpful and polite. It was approx. a 1 mile walk to Footbridge Beach and 2.5 miles to the middle of town. We will return.
We stayed here in fall and it was a great vacation. Our room was clean as was the property; all health concerns were covered. The lobby was large and open with a wonderful view if the water. They provided a light breakfast and coffee as well as plenty of tourist info. The staff was also friendly and helpful. The Maine coast is beautiful and we would most definitely return here to the Ogunquit River Inn.
Ogunquit River Inn is a serene, clean and comfortable home away from home. We loved strolling to and from downtown. The deck provided breathtaking views of the water at sunset. There are kayak rentals on site. There are many options for lodging in Ogunquit, but we would return here because of the welcoming staff and lovely accommodations.
We stayed here every year for the past 4-5 Maine trips with friends and loved it. This year, we also took relatives and since my husband and I are battling health issues, I specifically booked ground floor rooms to avoid stairs. No longer have breakfast offerings. SaraLee pound cakes in plastic wrap. Upon check-in on 8/22, I was informed there would be an additional charge of $12 per day "Service Fee" on top of the fee my VISA had been charged. I asked, "What for?" The young lady said, "A Service fee." I asked "What is the service?" She said she didn't know. I again asked for an explanation. Again, she just didn't know. Our relatives were not charged the fee at that time. We were tired from traveling and in no mood to go room-hunting so we caved. It was raining heavily. My husband left the lobby to see our room which was located at the end of the building, then down 15-20 steep outside steps to negotiate with our luggage. For the rest of our stay, we walked down the grassy knoll to avoid the steep staircase. We were told by reception that if we changed to a "ground floor" room, there would be an upcharge. We felt cheated. Our relatives got Room 235, which WAS ground level. We checked out on 8/26 and our relatives were then smacked with the $12 per day service fee upon checkout. When they insisted upon knowing what the fee was for, the front desk attendant said, "I don't know, I'm from Jamaica." We'll NEVER stay here again. Sticky carpet, smoke smell and no customer service.…
The Inn is close to Ogunquit, Kennebunkport and Moody Beach as well as many good restaurants. The rooms are spacious, clean and offer relaxing views of the salt march, Wells Beach and the Ocean depending on the location of the room. The staff was friendly and offered to help us with our luggage. We have been staying at this location since the early 1990s and it has never failed to meet our expectations. P.S. It has been remodeled and updated several times over the years.
The room had a shirt in it from a former guest .the floor was sticky and the phone in the room didn’t work. There was no reception for our cell phone so we couldn’t call the lobby. The next morning when I complained they said no manager is working that day. The lady said a manager would call me but no one called. I spoke to her a week later she apologized but didn’t say anyone would call… They obviously don’t care
We've stayed here mid May for the last 2 years and have absolutely loved our stays! The rooms are large and open up to an incredibly beautiful vista and private deck area. The entire establishment is pristinely clean and very quiet. It's the best value in the area. We look forward to returning again!
Perfect location. Very loud (wall unit air-conditioning and windows on loud traffic packed street) and uncomfortable room. Tiny shower room/bathroom barely bigger than a closet. Dirty shower curtain. Outdated and just simply disappoing. Motel stile continental breakfast with terrible coffee. Will not return.
Booked a one night stay, first floor. Room was down, and up, 2 flights of stairs. Toilet was not bolted to floor, noisy and unsafe. No decaf Keurig pods, so had to walk up 2 dangerous flights for coffee, then back down carrying 2 coffees. Pool doesn’t open til 9 am, with 11 am checkout. When I contacted Choice Hotels with my concerns, they offered $100 rebate on $350 paid. Only get refund if you open a Zelle account, which I do not want. Told me I could choose a check, not so. First, and last time using this hotel brand.
I somehow booked this hotel inadvertently and when I asked for help from the very rude man at the desk, he called me an idiot. Seeing he was totally dismissive and uncaring of my situation, I said to him well wouldn’t you be upset? His response was no because I wouldn’t be an idiot like you and book the wrong hotel. Can you imagine? When I had booking.com on the phone to allow him to cancel, he YELLED at me and said I’m not talking on your phone. I asked for the phone number so they could call him and he seemed so annoyed at even that request! Absolutely terrible way to be treated and for that reason I will never book with this hotel in the future. He could care less about my problem and could not be less helpful in trying to cancel that reservation. Totally and I mean totally unacceptable and inexcusable behavior!…
