We stayed 3 nights in a room with a small kitchen including sink, small refrigerator with freezer, microwave, hob, toaster, coffee maker with coffee and table. We had brought our utensils and dishes not sure if there would be any on reading reviews. There are, but I prefer my things.
The room is simple and represents the style of the area. There is carpet and the decor is vintage and a bit worn. Everything is very clean though.
Our room was located at the end of the building. We were quiet and the view is absolutely beautiful.
The place is really quiet and without flaflafla. A beautiful swimming pool is in the center of the complex with a beautiful view. Several deckchairs are available. There are BBQs down the coast, but no picnic table for those not in Cottage. Perhaps the calm is preserved like this.
Cleaning is not offered but we can ask for towels in exchange for dirty ones and garbage cans are collected if we take them out. It is very simple and not invasive.
Parking is very easy.
I’ll be back on my next trip to Wells. I loved the quiet.

My cousin and I just returned home yesterday after staying at the Garrison Motel. As soon as you walk in it looks like a small apartment and we were quite pleased with the accommodations! The rooms were very clean and I have to say that is definitely my objective! Cleanliness!! It was quiet and the area was perfect for getting to a resteraunt, shopping movies and the beach down the road. The welcome was friendly and the housekeeping were always around in the mornings cleaning if you needed anything. I definitely will stay there again if we happen to be north next year!!! God Bless and stay safe! Try them I guarantee that you will enjoy your stay too!

Staying at the Garrison was generally pleasant; and I would recommend for those visiting the area.

Pros:
Very well situated; close to shops/restaurants and the Wells beach!
Close to a historical monument (for you history buffs!)
Very nice lookout, overlooking Wells Beach and a Nature Reserve
Room was generally clean and functional; no amenities were missing (e.g. enough towels, hair dryer, cutlery, coffee machine, comfy bed, etc.)
Fast check-in/check-out
Prices were a tad lower than nearby hotels

Cons:
Wifi rarely worked; not good in this day and age
Horrible coffee in the room.
Room exterior not well taken care of; spiders and cobwebs everywhere
Carpets seemed worn/tired

One tip is to book the efficiency rooms (with kitchenette).

The most positive thing is the cleanliness of the rooms and property.
Check-in/out a breeze. With Covid issues housekeeping service was different. Even to the point of making sure we ran the dishwasher before we left. Or be charged for dirty dishes left on counter. $25.00 Noticed sheets were put on upside down, not sure if it was a mistake or shortcut by flipping bottom sheet. Great location to walk to eateries and Congdon Donuts across the street with the food vans. The worse part was Wi-Fi. I wish there was a pay per day option to get internet. I had an international business meeting on Zoom and kept getting dropped. The TV was the same way, it would just shut off. Bring your own pillow, a small fan and your own coffee (coffee provided was weaker than my 98 year old Gran). These are my observations and that is why I am giving this an average rating. Everyone was nice and the pool was perfect.

We stayed here few years ago and we’re excited to come back BUT now no .I don’t recommend this price vs other places you can go for over $200 a night! Room (104) smelled old musty like to start off with . Entire stretch of the porches were all spider webs and bugs which equal grossness so stayed instde but then came back from beach and the entrance way near my suit case had ants creeping away! went to front desk and they said oh and causally said we will spray room !? Never mind a discount didn’t even get a sorry ! check out other places first..

Response from Justin Gagnon, General Manager at The Garrison
Responded 25 Aug 2023
Sue, Thanks for taking the time to write this review. You tried to cancel your reservation 24 hours before your arrival and when you were told you were going to be charged due to our 10 day policy you swore at the front desk agent and said you were going to come after all. Immediately upon check in you reported an “ant” problem. Two front desk agents and 2 housekeepers got down on their hands and knees and couldn’t locate a single ant. You threatened us with a bad review because of the inconvenience of our cancellation policy but we don’t crumble to blackmail. I believe you took a picture of a spider web somewhere around the exterior of the property but it’s confusing. Thanks again for taking the time to write a review.

The suite was spacious and nice. Due to staffing shortage, no housekeeping unless requested. Guests had to leave towels, trash and empty coffee wrappers outside their rooms for replacement. The pool closed early one evening and opened late the next day - impacting my plans. Everything was in order the the place well-maintained. Nice views across the nature preserve towards the ocean.

Another GREAT stay!
Spent the week at The Garrison. Such a wonderful place. Staff are so helpful and accommodating - we booked a cottage and wanted to come a few days early so we got a Suite for 2 nights. Very clean, well equipped suite & cottage. Pool is always immaculate and has beautiful views! Great location - near beaches and dining.
Can't wait to go back!

This was a last minute stay for us and we were lucky to get one of the two remaining rooms - in fact a separate bedroom, living room and kitchen. Everything was spotlessly clean as was the pool, and we were just a very short drive from the center of Ogunquit which was buzzing for the holiday weekend. We were glad for the relative quiet to return to. The management is very friendly and accommodating. We are very pleased to know about this place.

We've been staying at the Garrison for 10 years now, which says a lot about this property. There are multiple room choice options, and it's perfect for families or couples looking to get away. The view is the cherry on top, along with the pool.

If you're looking for a clean, comfortable location with quick access to shops, restaurants and the beach, this is the place.

Justin and Angela are great hosts, and they take great care in their property. That goes a long way with me.

I highly recommend the Garrison, and I've been vacationing in this area for 30+ years and have stayed at several locations.

Book your stay and enjoy!

Justin, the owner, is very accommodating, friendly and takes great pride in the property. The cleaning personnel are “A1”. We stayed in a efficiency suite for 3 weeks. It was very nice, clean and comfortable. We had beautiful views of the ocean too! The Garrison is in an excellent location, walking distance to many fine restaurants. The pool is crystal clear and the grounds are lovely. We will certainly recommend this fine establishment to our family and friends. Thanks for a great stay!

Answer from GMGarrison
We are about 5 miles from the Rachel Carson Refuge. This wouldn't be walkable as the walk wouldn't be pedestrian friendly. We are located on the blueline of the Shoreline Explorer. There is a stop going south directly across the street from us and a stop going north only 100 yards down the sidewalk. The beach is 1 1/4 miles away. The Amtrak Station is a 5 minute drive and is probably 3 miles away.
