I've been to Stonington several times because I've had to interview customers in the area, and staying at the Inn makes even a long and tightly packed business trip a delight. Stay in a room with a fireplace, please, and wake up in the morning to the eerie sounds of foghorns, the engines of lobster boats getting ready to go...

I stayed 3 nights in this "Hotel" it was the worst night in a world tour, the mattress was terrible, you can't call that a mattress or an hotel. Don't take a room in this hotel, you can't sleep in this hotel.

We usually stay at Boyce's, but, the room we wanted was sold out. We stayed in the American Eagle which was a large 2 bedroom overlooking the harbor. Wow! An open living room with large picture windows with gorgeous views. A wood stove which we did not use. A huge sectional...very tastefully decorated. A dining room with a table for...

We were looking for a quiet seaside town and were fortunate enough to luck upon Stonington. We booked the Room over the internet and were completely blown away when we got there and saw what we had booked. We immediately booked another night. The views are amazing, the service so friendly. Kelly was particularly delightful to chat to at breakfast...

This inn is literally "on the harbor," with gorgeous views and very cozy rooms, which open onto very large decks. Service is excellent, and we had a wonderful stay. I would recommend this place to anyone coming to Deer Isle, for its location alone!

My wife and I go to the coast frequently; most generally to the southern Maine coastal area (Wells - Ogunquit) as we have friends there. One of our relatives suggested that we go to Stonington as it is a working fishing village and not one of the mostly tourist-oriented destinations. At their suggestion we booked a room at the Inn...

Very laid back inn right on the water..we stayed in the Stephen tabor room which just perfect...highly romantic...not fancy, but perfect. Breakfast leaves a bit to be desired but a small price to pay for all the ambience,] So glad we stayed here

We have been to Stonington a couple times in the past two summers, but this was our first visit to the Inn. I struggled at the website, trying to determine the perfect room. In the end I chose the Timberwind, a room on the second floor. It has a wonderful picture window and view of the harbor. It was comfortable...

When I booked this room it was the last room available. Upon arrival I was pleasantly surprised to discover it was a great room with a wonderful view. From our window we could look straight out into the harbor. The room also has a shared deck facing the water. Room was very comfortable. Bath room was nice size. Very clean....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
OPEN YEAR ROUND Known for its unique charm and spectacular view of the Penobscot Bay islands, the Inn on the Harbor on Deer Isle offers a perfect romantic waterfront retreat. Built in the 1880s and perched right on the edge of picturesque Stonington Harbor, this bed and breakfast captures the very essence of Maine's Downeast island life. Ten of the thirteen individually decorated guestrooms face the sea and enjoy gorgeous views of Isle au Haut, the Windjammers and the island's fishing fleet. Guests can relax on the spacious flower-covered deck extending out into the harbor and enjoy the tide rising and falling beneath the Inn. They can fall asleep to the sound of nearby Mark Island Light's foghorn and wake up to the lobstermen heading out to sea. Several of our rooms have wood burning fireplaces and/or private decks. Our accommodations are relaxed and comfortable, all with private baths and sitting areas. The coastal atmosphere, with fresh salt air and brilliant sunny skies, encourages many of our guests to simply put their feet up and relax while watching Stonington's bustling waterfront. This is Maine's Downeast island life at its best. ... more   less
