we have stayed here for 4 yrs and our stay is around 2 months, hope to stay 4 months this year. Right on the coast, very quiet, and the experience of this small town with it's town hall suppers, local friendly folks, plus getting to know the owners, Cathy and Christine Ayers is priceless. If you want to experience the...

Rustic, gorgeous campground, right on the water. A lovely older woman owns it, said her husband designed each site. They are perfect. Very big, and half of them are right on the water. What a great experience. No light or noise pollution. Loved it!

This private camp ground has both RV and tent sites. The RVs come with the usual utilities. A number of RV-ers use it for long stays to discover this area of the Maine coast. The tent sites are wonderfully placed. Usually on flat meadow settings that have treed wind breaks in between that offer privacy. Most sites offer tidal water...

This is a beautiful campground, but the ladies bathroom is in a terrible state! There is no screen or glass in one of the windows so there is always bugs. There are three stalls, two have 'Not Working' signs on them, and, the third one only working one does not lock, so if you want any privacy, pee behind a...

Unlike so many private campgrounds, Mainayr does not squeeze you into a tiny site with other camper's nearby. We had a lovely spot looking onto the cove. We saw the moon over the water as we sat around our campfire. In the morning, there was a mist over the water as I sat at the picnic table sipping tea and...

Tent camped on site 31, end of the lane, private and spacious. This campground has been owned by the same family since 1958 so don't expect state of the art anything. The grounds were formally an apple orchard so many sites have lovely shade and grassy knolls. The shower house is antiquated but functional. The bonus here is the peaceful...

Over the last few years, Mainayr has been spruced up so that the campsites are cleaner and more inviting than they appeared 5 years ago, when we drove through and were decided not to stay. Most of the sites are grassy, some are wooded, and others are open with old apple trees for shade. It's not a big campground (31...

At the last minute we were able to find a spot in this campground and what a great find. Camp sites are spread out, well maintained, and we could have put 4 tents (we had two) on the camp site. Nice folks, clean bathrooms and affordable ($30/nite) Close to Petit Manan, Schoodic and Downeast. Not far off Rte 1 but...

This campground was built in 1958 and it still seems like stepping back in time. We always camp here when we come to Maine because it's quiet and near the places we want to visit. They have painted the office/bathrooms building, however everything remains the same. We were here the end of September and the mosquitoes were bad, so either...

A very quiet, no frills campground. If you want to get out of the fast pace of the Bar Harbor area and enjoy the unspoiled beauty of Downeast Maine this is the place to be. Great spot to kayak, or bring a small boat and enjoy the cove. Mosquitoes are pesky in the summer, so we always bring a screenhouse...
