Very clean older motel in a lovely location. The ocean is right across the street. After spending a few hours in Bar Harbor, Southwest Harbor was a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle. A word of caution for light sleepers, the walls are very thin. We could here the tv in the next unit. Also, they are building new...

Clean. Quiet. A stone's throw from the ocean. The Seawall campground ranger station is nearby where you can pay for your Acadia Park pass to avoid lines. Close to Thurston's for a great dinner and Grumpy's for a great breakfast. All motel staff were very friendly and very helpful.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for our first trip to Acadia and it was amazing. I wasn't sure how this side of the island would compare to the Bar Island side, but I loved it so much more. The hotel had great views of the natural seawall - we could sit on the balcony right outside our second floor...

The Seawall was just as advertised, clean, quiet, good breakfast, freindly staff, Speed bump was a big hit and has been talked about daily since we left. I would highly recommend to anyone wanting affordable, basic accommodations in a quiet setting close to Acadia, Bass Harbor and Bar Harbor.

As you enter the area, go directly to the Acadia Visitors Center first and hike, bike or drive up Cadillac Mountain. Take the south road down and go into Bar Harbor. The historic walking tour (on your own) of Bar Harbor is very interesting and the walking path along the water is peaceful. Then it is good to get out...

Seawall is a great motel! it is basic, inexpensive as hotels go in Acadia, and very clean. The location is great in the quiet side of Acadia with a nice view of the ocean. The owners are staff were very warm and attentive to their guests needs. They even provide chairs to take out to the seawall by the ocean....

I wish i would have stayed more of my vacation here! This beautiful little motel is right across from the seawall. There was a great view from a cozy room. The staff was so helpful and informative about the area. They suggested a wonderful hike! This motel and south harbor are places you must visit if seeing acadia! Speed bump...

The only mistake I made in booking this accommodation was not making it a longer stay. Our family is on the nine week summer vacation road trip and booking unknown places to us is always tricky (we're from Australia and living in Canada). I may be biased now but this area is far more relaxing and enjoyable than the touristy...

When I planned this trip, the first trip to the States for my kids, Seawall Motel was the kind of place I wanted them to stay, but I wasn't sure if these kind of places even existed anymore. I'm pleased to state that non-chain, friendly, efficient and clean all-american motels still exist! The rooms were spotlessly clean, furnished to a...

The best part of our stay was how friendly and helpful the staff was. This motel is not in the main part of the city, but is close enough so that you can quickly drive or mike to main st. (10 mins). It is about 30min to Bar harbor. The only thing I would like is to have better cell...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Seawall Motel is located on the quietside of Mount Desert Island in the Southwest Harbor area. Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, the Motel borders the Seawall entrance to Acadia National Park. It adjoins a pine forest and a fresh water pond which provides ample opportunities for birdwatching and scenic photography. The Seawall is a naturally occurring granite, loose boulder and rock seawall with easy shore walks and tide pools to explore. There is a picnic area to watch the waves crash on the rugged shoreline and a spot to watch the sunrise over the Great Cranberry Island. On a clear night, it is one of the best places in the country for stargazing. Just beyond the scenic areas, you'll approach two of the many walking trails of Acadia National Park: Ship Harbor and Wonderland. Each is less than a two-mile hike along the ocean and nature trails. A short drive from these trails is the Bass Harbor Lighthouse that has been guiding mariners with its light since 1858. The dramatic setting, especially at sunset, is a photographer's dream. The Seawall Motel sits directly across from the famed seawall and close proximity to many activities of what the park has to offer. It is a two-story Motel with free Wi-Fi, in-room phones, cable TV and complimentary continental breakfast. These budget-friendly motels has twenty spacious, comfortable, and exquisitely clean rooms with a choice of two-queens or king size beds. A community room is available for all guests to use which includes the vending and ice machine, refrigerator, microwave, and coin-operated laundry machines. The free Island Explorer Shuttle can be accessed from our parking lot for easy travel to restaurants and shops in downtown Southwest Harbor, and to many other locations on the island. Top-rated in TripAdvisor, the Seawall Motel is the perfect place for your Maine vacation! Enjoy the beautiful scenery, the wonderful staff, and freshly brewed coffee ready for you every morning! ... more   less
