I had stayed at this motel many years ago and had always remembered the beautiful location. Decided to stay again as I was travelling with someone who had never been to Mt Desert Island. The location is still beautiful BUT there is now a new two story "guest house" located directly across the parking lot and blocks most of the... More

We stayed two nights in August 2016. The motel is well maintained, clean and the service was great everyone really helpful and nice. We had a double queen room, it was very spacious and clean. We had a decent breakfast, much better than your typical motel. The motel provides a common refrigerator and coin operated laundry room and also let's... More

We were there in mid-May. Not very busy yet. Got to have a great conversation with the owners. He told us about the area, places to go, places to eat... We only stayed 2 nights because we had rented a house, which wasn't ready. We were glad for the inconvenience, to have met a great couple. The ocean is just... More

First of all, the location is superb, the views are terrific , it is an older motel looking good. We were thinking that this would be our new Acadia motel. The rooms are large, they have a nice continental breakfast in the morning, the wi-fi was good, the front porch had chairs for viewing the ocean, etc. But the beds... More

When we drove up the the Seawall Motel I will admit that I was a bit disappointed. It looked just like, well, a motel! But boy was I wrong! The rooms are large, the hot water plentiful and the overall ambience was like coming home. Dave, the owner, is outgoing, warm and ever present, ready with another pot of coffee... More

I booked this motel as a last minute resort after planning a trip to Maine and Acadia National Park for a week. Bar harbor was booked the latter part of my trip due to a marathon that was being held, and this was the only place left with vacancies on the last2 days of my trip to the park. What... More

The staffs were great and happy to help. The room was clean and has nice smell. There are useful staffs to use especially hair dryer. However the air condition didn't work well. The view was good. It was quiet and good to escape from hectic life.

The Seawall Motel was the best decision we could have made on our first trip to Maine, and the Mount Desert Island area. Very close to Acadia Ntl Park and Bar Harbor. Stayed there for several days the week after Labor Day. The owners were wonderful, friendly and so very helpful. They made us feel right at home and helped... More

The Seawall was perfect for our week visiting Acadia National Park. The "quiet side' was far preferable to Bar Harbor's crowded conditions, exacerbated by cruise ship travelers. We loved the view from the window and shared balcony, and the opportunity to borrow canvas lawn chairs to take across the road to the granite "shelves" to watch the waves, birds, and... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Seawall Motel is located on the quietside of Mount Desert Island in the Southwest Harbor area. Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, the Motel borders the Seawall entrance to Acadia National Park. It adjoins a pine forest and a fresh water pond which provides ample opportunities for birdwatching and scenic photography. The Seawall is a naturally occurring granite, loose boulder and rock seawall with easy shore walks and tide pools to explore. There is a picnic area to watch the waves crash on the rugged shoreline and a spot to watch the sunrise over the Great Cranberry Island. On a clear night, it is one of the best places in the country for stargazing. Just beyond the scenic areas, you'll approach two of the many walking trails of Acadia National Park: Ship Harbor and Wonderland. Each is less than a two-mile hike along the ocean and nature trails. A short drive from these trails is the Bass Harbor Lighthouse that has been guiding mariners with its light since 1858. The dramatic setting, especially at sunset, is a photographer's dream. The Seawall Motel sits directly across from the famed seawall and close proximity to many activities of what the park has to offer. It is a two-story Motel with free Wi-Fi, in-room phones, cable TV and complimentary continental breakfast. These budget-friendly motels has twenty spacious, comfortable, and exquisitely clean rooms with a choice of two-queens or king size beds. A community room is available for all guests to use which includes the vending and ice machine, refrigerator, microwave, and coin-operated laundry machines. The free Island Explorer Shuttle can be accessed from our parking lot for easy travel to restaurants and shops in downtown Southwest Harbor, and to many other locations on the island. Top-rated in TripAdvisor, the Seawall Motel is the perfect place for your Maine vacation! Enjoy the beautiful scenery, the wonderful staff, and freshly brewed coffee ready for you every morning! ... more   less
