We visited in April with friends and found Mike a welcoming and informative host. The accommodation was very comfortable and our rooms had excellent views over the water. We were made to feel very welcome and given lots of information about the local area, including a visit to the local granite museum - a real find and also a music...

This is a rather late review, but one I have been wanting to complete because our stay at The Birches was such a treat. First, Suzi accommodated us due to a last minute inquiry on our end and a last minute cancellation on her end. We were on somewhat of a rambling vacation so we hadn't planned to far in...

Most enjoyable Inn experience visiting Maine in January. Highlights: 1). The hosts! Susi is really great company and put on a delicious eggs Benedict, with some seriously good, thick bacon. 2). The view of Southwest Harbor and the islands 3). Comfortable rooms, cozy living room, 21st century entertainment, etc 4). Did I mention Susi? She is really cool and seriously...

I surprised my boyfriend with a trip to Maine to hike, bike and geocache in and around Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island. Our home base was the charming Birches Bed and Breakfast from Nov 2-6. We had the place to ourselves for three days and enjoyed the spoiling treatment from Mike, who even went so far as to...

Highlight of our 10 day road trip thru New England was a stop over at the Birches in SouthWest Harbor ME. Owner/hostess Susie was a knowledgeable delight from start to finish. She coordinated a lobster boating tour, dining reservations and even set coffee out for our 4am rise to witness the sunrise over Cadillac Mountain. Food was impeccable, rooms were...

My husband and were staying at another B&B across the state and during breakfast conversation with the other guests we mentioned we were headed to Acadia National Park for the next few days and had not yet made a reservation for lodging. The couple enthusiastically referred us to The Birches and we couldn't have been happier. The home is located...

We stayed 3 days at the Birches so we would have plenty of time to experience Acadia. Susi our host, was amazing! She has a long family history with this house and made us feel completely welcome - more like a new friend, really. She does what the best B and B hosts should do - share her knowledge and...

This was a great B & B experience. The house is beautiful, surrounded by parts of Acadadia National Park. The owner and staff are great. Great advice on dining options and places to see. Breakfast was fantastic both days we were there. We went just after peak season but if you're looking for a little more quiet, less touristy experience,...
