5 miles south of Camden and set a top a small ledge overlooking Penobscot Bay, the Ledges is a classic Maine motel with panoramic ocean views. The property is nestled at the foot of a cove on 9 oceanfront acres with 900 feet of shoreline. Our hillside location overlooking the bay offers guests the perfect vantage point to spot tall-masted schooners, sleek yachts cruising the bay, and lobster boats hauling traps right off our shore.

The spacious rooms appear recently modernized with faux wood floors and nice tile in the bath. The bed was very comfortable, and everything was immaculately clean. There was a small balcony overlooking Penobscott Bay. That view was terrific. The staff was courteous and the prices reasonable. What's not to like?

I wanted to have a little get-away with my husband before school started, and I also wanted an ocean view. I was working my way up the Maine coast on Booking.com and found Ledges by the Sea. After a long drive from NW Connecticut, we arrived and went to our room. The view of the ocean bay was/is stunning! My husband and I had our first cup of coffee every morning sitting on the balcony. Then we would walk to the on-site breakfast area with all big windows with the same spectacular view. My husband went on one of his antique/junk store searches and I stayed by the pool, which I had all to myself. There were so many interesting things to see and do in the area and Ledges was close to everything yet removed from any congestion/traffic/crowds. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back!

We enjoyed our stay. Room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was awesome and the views were fabulous. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others. Only minutes to Camden which has lots of shopping and restaurants.

Lovely, clean, quiet stay. Loved our room plus the balcony overlooking the water. Shower water hot, ice machines nearby, fireplace in rooms. Will definitely recommend to friends. Front desk staff/owner very helpful & friendly. Located near the cute town of Rockport but sets off from the activities making for a sweet lodging.

The good: spectacular location and view, rooms are clean and neat, outdoor pool is clean but not heated, friendly staff, check in and out is simple and efficient. The bad: exterior needs upkeep (spiders and cobwebs taking over doorways, turf surrounding pool needs replacing), please skip the cheap, stale (rock hard) pastries and gross coffee which comprise the continental breakfast included in your stay - waste of time. Unless you like waffles which weren't bad and kids like to make them themselves. Would absolutely come back because of the affordability and view. And don't leave Camden without driving or climbing Mt. Battie with its amazing view. Overall a very pleasant stay during time where one can barely afford to enjoy the vacation spots in their own state.

What a find! Great room, amazing view, friendly staff. Couldn’t recommend it more. Recommend paying a bit more for the ocean view. Self service breakfast with good choice. Room really nice , modern, clean. Great to look at the stars by night as well.

My wife and I have stayed at hotels all over the world without issues. Ledges by the bay mistakenly booked us for the wrong night and when we arrived, our family of four with two children and we didn’t have a place to stay after being charged for the hotel. We had to call a dozen hotels to find another place during one of the busiest weekends of the year. Mistakes happen, a company shows their value by how they respond to the problem, not blame the customer for the issue.

There wasn't one thing to complain about! The room was clean, attractive, and had NO smell of smoke, which was important to us. The balcony attached to each room has a beautiful view of the Bay, and was great for relaxing and enjoying early morning coffee and evening wine! Although you can hear people of neighboring rooms talking if they're out on their balconies as well, there are barriers on each side of the balconies, so you don't need to be dressed up to spend time out there, or dressed at all, if that's how you roll! :) We didn't spend much time at the hotel, as we were there 7 days for a 15 person family reunion nearby. We enjoyed the waffles, fruit, and coffee in the morning, but there were a number of other options, and the small refrigerator in the room and Keurig coffee maker were very nice to have also. There are plenty of attractions close by if you're not just there to relax. Some people in our group enjoyed the Farnsworth Art Museum, but I chose the Owls Head Transportation Museum, which featured many cool old cars, motorcycles, bicycles, and planes. All the staff members we encountered were extremely friendly and helpful. Our stay literally couldn't have been better!

We had a great stay at Ledges. Our room was neat and clean. We thoroughly enjoyed having a balcony to have our morning coffee while watching the sun rise. Having the breakfast was a nice bonus. I liked that we were not downtown in either Rockland or Camden. It was nice and quiet. We will be back!
