Hotel Review: Ramada Plaza by Wyndham, Portland, ME
My husband and I stayed at the Ramada Plaza by Wyndham for two nights while visiting family in Portland, and overall, it was a decent experience.
The staff was notably welcoming and accommodating. They informed us that daily cleaning wasn’t standard, but we could request it if needed. We did ask for extra towels and blankets, which were promptly delivered to our room.
Our room had ample space, including a desk and side table with chairs, making it comfortable for our stay. However, we encountered a few issues with the refrigerator—it was missing shelves and a towel was left inside, but the staff quickly fixed it when we called down. It worked adequately, though the freezer wasn’t very cold.
The bathroom was on the smaller side, and I noticed the shower lacked a grab bar, which was a concern for my husband. The toiletries provided were good quality, featuring a small Dove bar and bottles of bath soap, shampoo, and conditioner. However, the bath soap was barely enough for two showers.
In summary, while there were some quirks, the welcoming staff and overall comfort made our stay enjoyable. If you’re looking for an economy option in Portland, this hotel is worth considering.

The hotel is dated. Only provides occasional housekeeping during multi day stays. Location is hard to get out of if you need to go left. There are plenty of restaurants close and we used the location to go to Ogunquit and Kennebunk ( ~ 45 and 35 mins respectively). Pool goes to 8 feet and they have a hot tub. Price was cheap. We were on back side, so did not notice traffic noise. On a road with lots of industrial companies and traffic. Shower was odd in that there was a spigot with no handle. Flowers were nicely maintained and the staff was nice. Did not eat at the restaurant.

this hotel worked fine for us. It's nothing "special" but it really wasn't bad. Check in and check out experiences were fine. We didn't run into any glitches. There was plenty of parking and being on the ground floor was helpful with our bags. The Wi-Fi was actually quite bad in our room and the TV was smaller that what we've had in other rooms. The bed was comfortable enough and room temperature was fine. There was quite a lot of traffic noise in our room. There didn't seem to be a breakfast inclusive option here. We were instructed that there was a restaurant connected with the property where we could go for breakfast.

This is a great pet friendly hotel. We had a great room, well appointed, large, patio door with good access to the dog area which had a pet waste disposal and supplied waste bags. Pet area was clean, other pet owners respected the space. Room was spacious, with two double beds, fridge, and a safe. Pool is very large with hot tub.

My husband and I needed a place to stay after our original accommodations fell through. We chose this place because it was fairly close to where we were going to stay. The bed was comfortable but that’s about all I could say that was positive. Our room was extremely dusty and the walls in the bathroom had brown gunk on them. There was no remote for the television and when I inquired about it I was told to look around it could be almost anywhere. It wasn’t. I was finally able to get one from the front desk. The coffee maker had to be started 3 times to get one cup of coffee. It was replace during the day while we were out. The pool was a nightmare. There were unattended children screaming and doing cannonballs with no regard to anyone. I went back 3 different times in hopes of being able to enjoy the pool but the same kids were screaming and cannonballing into the pool every time I went. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere.

Was not smoke-free! Walking into the room, it smelled funny, I chalked it up to a hotel smell that I will get used to. Oh look, a balcony! I opened and up and was just hit was a wave of smoke smell, I instantly closed the doors. They should make the entire premises smoke free and not just "inside the rooms", if I had planned on staying longer or using the balcony at all I would have said something. There were two beds, and I was one person, I could not use the bed closest to the balcony door because I just smelled smoke. I ended up sleeping in the second bed and it wasn't until the morning that I really smelled it again. I was barely in the room during my night there, but I even passed people outside smoking outside their rooms.
On a different note- it was just a very oddly designed room, in the sense that the light switch was not outside the closet or inside the closet next to the door but in line with the sliding door, so the closet could not fully shut and you spent a good second looking for where the light switch was (pictures)

One room smelled like cigarette smoke another room smelled like urine on the carpet. They advertise a restaurant with wonderful food and a great dining experience. There is no restaurant for dining. There is a breakfast restaurant that doesn't even answer the phone to place an order

Thank you very much for taking the time to let us know about your experience. We sincerely apologize for the odor and cleanliness issues you encountered during your stay. These conditions are not consistent with our standards for quality. We do, indeed, care about your experience and will utilize your comments in our ongoing training and property improvements. We were a group travelling from different parts of New England and meeting in Portland. The hotel staff were friendly, capable and made sure our rooms were together despite the different arrival times of people in our group. Also, our friends were travelling with their dog. The hotel staff made sure they got a room that was dog friendly, and showed us an entrance to the hotel that gave easy access for dogs. An overall good stay and would visit if in Portland again. Recommended to anyone travelling with a pet!

We were taking a car trip up the coast of Maine, primary emphasis on Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. We did not want to miss out on Portland all together so planned 2 nights at this location. This worked out well for us. There were many nicer properties at much higher rates on the wharf in Portland or downtown. This property suited us very well for the 2 night stopover and permitted us to have a full day of tours and eating in the more famous parts of Portland. I am glad we planned it this way. This property worked out very well as it was clean and comfortable. Good location with easy access to downtown.

The rooms with the whirlpool bathtubs are all on the first floor and have a patio outside.
18 I would guess though it would be best to email the hotel.
Call the establishment and ask.
It's about a 15-20 minute drive to get downtown. I'm sure you could take a cab or Uber, but it's probably not cheap. Also, you have to pay for parking downtown. It's $10-$15 depending how long you stay.
