We have just left the Inn on Carleton, and cannot speak highly enough about the place. You will never get a friendlier warmer service. A delight, genuine people not a paste on smile. The building is amazing and oozes character, any minor complaints I have read in other reviews have to be taken into context with the age and type...

My husband and I like to get away from the city from time to time and New England is always the perfect place for inns. We thoroughly enjoyed the charm and history the Inn on Carleton had to offer. Quaint but clean and with good service. If your looking for a quiet and restful getaway without all the coldness of...

Our one-night stay was phenomenal! The service at this B&B is above and beyond our expectations. Buddy, the inn-keeper, and his staff were as friendly and nice as can be. They gave us helpful food suggestions and things to do, and accommodated our vegetarian and vegan diets for the breakfast portion. For breakfast, I had scrambled eggs, along with a...

Just returning from our second stay with Buddy and Cindy. There is no better place in Portland!!! The rooms, service and food are five star. Combined with the beautiful gardens, the Inn could be featured in 'Better Home and Gardens'. It's that nice! We will be back for a third soon.

Spent 2 nights and would have been very happy to stay longer. Having never stayed in a B&B in the US was not sure what to expect. Really friendly service a lovely room all just a few minutes from a surprisingly pleasant Portland downtown... Easy to recommend

A few endorsements and words of advice concerning our recent stay: 1) We stayed in room 6 which was almost like a suite compared to a normal B&B room. My only negative review concerning the room was that we could hear everything the other couple next to us was saying due to the way their bathroom was renovated/situated. 2) Location...

This B&B is a beautiful old sea captains house in a nice part of Portland. We got off street parking right next to the front door. We stayed on the top floor so we would have had to negotiate two flights of stairs with our bags, but to be fair our host, Buddy did offer to carry them for me....

Wow! Buddy knows how to put a great experience together. He starts by choosing a fabulous property. The location is perfect...a lovely old residential area, about a 10 minute walk to the terrific Portland Art Museum. He decorates with a completely gorgeous flair for color and detail. He adds a wonderful staff: Cindy, one of the friendliest people on earth,...

It is difficult to improve upon all of the wonderful comments made by others with regard to this beautiful inn. The location is fabulous, easily walkable into the city. The inn is very welcoming from the outside, a stunning example of the historic architecture of Portland. Once inside the door, the atmosphere is immediately indicative of an old friend who...

Our trip this week included stays in seven different hotels and this was by far our favorite place. Room 1 is gorgeous, comfortable, and homey. Breakfast was amazingly lovely. Cindy and Buddy are so friendly and welcoming. Don't think twice about staying at The Inn on Carleton!
