This year, we stayed on the 2nd floor in a room with two double beds. The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean. We like that there is a fridge and microwave in the room. They provide a great breakfast (eggs, sausage, toast, pastries, cereal,...More
The University Inn is well kept and expertly managed. And the staff is always friendly, courteous and helpful. I stay routinely when working with the University of Maine and I am never disappointed. The Inn is well located, a nice walk to town, and serves...More
We were pleasantly surprised during our recent stay ... I knew that the property wasn't new, as I had stayed here during my own college visit in 1991 ... so I wasn't sure what the hotel would be like. We were immediately impressed by the...More

The campus is quite safe. Police on campus and in the town of Orono are always out patrolling the area and there are emergency beacons throughout campus (with a dedicated 24/7 campus police force as well). Orono, by and large, has a pretty low crime rate.
Cold weather on campus affects student life in the same way it would anywhere else. Though there is a shuttle that services campus, freedom to travel to off-campus locations is pretty limited without a car. As such, winter driving can be an issue if you are not familiar with driving in the snow. Regardless, the roads are pretty well taken care of, especially on campus.
Thank you for your interest in our beautiful town!
